Dont judge Australians based on A Current Affair, in terms of journalism its a show which has consistently scraped the bottom of the barrel for the lowest common denominator stories which appeal to the older ultra conservative viewer
The chasers war on everything covers this very well:

The biggest problem in Australia for car enthusiast is that in the eye of johnny law you fall into 2 categories: either your into holdens & fords OR your a no good law breaking hoon.
I shits me so hard when i think that there are people out on Australian roads who are driving round in rusted out shit boxes (usually EL falcons) which are falling to bits, have shitty brakes, rubber bands for tyres, handle like sofas and are death traps to other motorist which is ok because its a unmodified car and you pay your rego and TAC each year. BUT if you put a blow-off valve or even just a pod filter on a brand new or near new turbo'd jap car they'll lock you up and crush your car for being a hoon!

that "news" lady, tracy grimshaw,....is that really a chick or a dude?
not sure its all 100% correct.
the news is owned by like 10 families in the world who also own the world.
this bs keeps you from focusing the real issues so it is actually doing its job.Originally posted by der affeWhat are you going to start a thread about next? "My woman's skinny jeans chaffe my special parts, f*ck skin irritation"

I find it hilarious that people hate on drifting yet have no problem with drag racing.
It's blatantly obvious which one requires more skill and talent, and it certainly isn't driving in a straight line.M20B23 Euro 323i - The Legend Of Ron Burgundrot

I'm not even a big fan of drifting, I just find it amusing when people try to classify what activities are and aren't "real" (motor)sports based on their personal preferences.

Originally posted by Raxe View PostIf difficulty, risk and noise are what makes a sport respectable, I'd say drifting by its very nature would be the most respectable sport of all.

You know what I was saying with the original statement- I wasn't knocking the U.S., just being a bit realistic.
