I gave up on Australia a long time ago. If I was single and didn't have all my family and friends here I would probably move to Germany.

Just and FYI for all you maximum speed limited on our highways here are 110km/h I believe that is about 60mph. From what I have read you guys in the US have some crazy numbers like 80mph.

On a good note R18+ rating for games has passed through the upper house and will be in affect from 1/1/2013 thank fucking god.

The quintessential bogan would be something like:
      • Consumes cheap cigarettes and alcohol.
      • Terrible sense of fashion.
      • Poor grasp on the English language yet demands everybody else speak it.
      • Probably has 3 kids by the time they're 13, usually so they can spend the government bonus on drugs and alcohol.
      • Typically xenophobic, dislikes immigration. "Fuck off we're full" stickers are everywhere.
      • Loves either Holden, or Ford because they're so patriotic. Doesn't actually realize neither of those cars are Australian.
      • Undereducated and over opinionated.
      • Has one, or more tattoos of the southern cross. Once again, they believe it holds significance to Australia. If you tell them it's a bunch of stars that can be seen from anywhere in the southern hemisphere, they will get angry and try to fight you. Ask me how I know.

The vast majority of Australians fall somewhere in between being a normal human and a complete bogan. These types are hard enough to deal with, so imagine what it's like when you come into contact with the 25% that are full blooded bogans.

This bullshit that everyone drives a blinged-up Commo/Lancer is utter crap - if you pulled your head out of your arse you'd actually see they're in the minority out here. So someone drinks cheap booze and smokes, and that makes them a bogan? What the fuck are you on? Are you seriously that far up yourself you consider those things to be "trailer trash" like qualities?

Commodores and Falcons share SFA components with any other car out there, you blithering twat. And we're responsible for developing the GM Zeta platform - have you driven any of these cars you're bagging out? I have, and they'll run rings around an E30 (as they should with +30 years development). As for the comment about the talent to drift vs drag racing, well I'd love to see you pedal a 10second or faster car down the strip, hero.

Also, you don't even seem to recognise what the fuck the Southern Cross represents to Australians. 1) It's on our flag, fuckwit. 2) It formed a part of the Eureka movement's symbol. Look it up, you might learn something.

Long story short, emigrate to another country and see how you go. With a tiny amount of perspective, you might actually realise that if you don't act like a complete fucking retard on the streets you can have fun with cars in Australia. Sure, the nannystate speeding kills bullshit is tiresome, but it's not hard to get onto racetracks to get your jollies (if you aren't a complete mouth-breathing moron... which I am suspecting you actually are).

I should have known you were a complete douche canoe by your username. Demon Camber is utterly retarded, and so are you. You are a the posterchild for why cousins shouldn't marry.

Anyways you still need to admit it is ridiculous here. I don't think we were arguing the point that racing should be kept to the track, that is obvious. It is more along the lines that these idiots on the street "hoons", are making it impossible for the rest of us to enjoy and modify our cars.

I want to start a full ground up rebuild to enjoy driving around on the weekend. But the fact that it will probably get defected is putting me off of it. I dont want anything crazy just a nice looking car with a bit of a performance increase.

The zeta platform was actually developed in Detroit. It's just produced here.

Obviously the track is the appropriate place to race/drift but the fact that we can barely even modify cars driven on the street without getting raped is bullshit. You know it.

Analysis of a bogan was as a whole and you definitely sound like one. Defending the southern cross, lol. "It's on our flag". Who gives a shit? The flag is irrelevant to this country. It's the British union jack and some random constellation.

Try peddling a fast car down a straight line? Done that. How about you try linking a mountain road, or an entire track since you think drifting requires no skill.

Smoking is definitely a trailer trash quality, so is drinking.

Try again, pookie. It was developed by Holden engineers. Same as the new-gen V6 used in Alfas/Opels/etc.

It's not that hard to build a legal car to use on the street. You know it, you're too stupid or lazy to do it right.

You're a fucking spastic. I didn't say drifing doesn't require skill. I laughed at your naive assumption that driving a fast car at the drags is easy. And, I dare say I've spent more time behind the wheel of more drift and circuit cars than you have, champ, including your beat-to-shit $3k E30. Seeing as you're such a manic, blind-to-the-rest-of-the-world fanboi I'm surprised you haven't just started crapping in your hand like the mouth-breathing downie you are and painting "TOUGE ROOLZ" on the wall in your own faecal matter.

Please, tell me more about your straight edge lifestyle and how it empowers you with such a high and mighty moral standing to blindly pass judgement on the rest of us...

As I said before: if you don't like this country, move. Don't sit on the internet making up illogical, totally false reasons why you hate the place you live. Be proactive and move. Or kill yourself.

You must live in a classy area if you think riced out cars aren't the majority. At least 70% of aftermarket wheels are of the over sized diameter, chrome variety in Adelaide, regardless of car type. You see them on everything from HZ's and LH Toranas(thank you Street Machine magazine) to Hyundai Excels and E36's. OTT stereos would be the second biggest mod.

Legal requirements are rather stringent. 90% of common tuning applied to E30's is not legal.

                Care to elaborate?

Chrome? Street Machine magazine? You need to learn the difference between chrome and polished billet, pookie.

I know of dozens of tough late model Japanese and Aussie cars in Adelaide that AREN'T over the top, and some of Australia's best modified Euros (done in a classic, clean style) come from SA. You're not looking hard enough, or you hang out in dodgy areas.

Even in NSW, home of the lebbo gangsters with "QSR pink S2000s on 24z bra" there is a huge number of clean, tough street cars, from old school stuff, to traditional hot rods, to circuit cars...

M50, M52, S5x swaps are all easily legal. Coilovers can be engineered. Depending on the state and the original tare weight of the E30 used, an LS1 is also legal as is 5L V8s, 1UZs, etc.

There are 2 turbo M50 E30s in NSW I know of that flew through engineering, plus quite a few M30 and turbo M30 E30s that are legally on NSW roads.

What do you want to do?

The flag gives us a national identity. You go to the US and tell them the Stars & Stripes is irrelevant and you'll get punched in the face. It is a symbol of national identity. If you want to complain about misplaced symbolic idolism, look at the boxing kangaroo - it is a corporate trademark of Bond Corp (as in, famous bankrupt Alan Bond)

I've been down and visited friends in SA and have seen plenty used regularly. You must be driving around in the scummy houso-filled areas at the wrong times. Go to Campbelltown in Sydney at 9am on a Wednesday and you will only see '90s V6 Commos on Bob Jane 16s. Same area, 9pm on a Saturday or 2pm on a sunny Sunday and you'll see some great cars.

Coilovers can be engineered but they can't be height adjustable which defeats the purpose.

Hell, my Momo Prototipo is not even ADR approved for an E30 and that is a genuine Momo steering wheel.

I've heard of people being defected for having no back seat. Apparently it's unsafe in an accident, I don't really know how.
You can get all that, even adjustable coilovers, engineered. It doesn't matter if it has ADRs or not - a registered signatory can pass it so long as it's not too far outside the scope of the laws and is safe. I had 2 different engineers willing to sign off on flared arches on my last E30 and a +50mm track increase. I know of plenty of people who've gotten that kind of stuff passed, all over Australia.

Engineering is an expensive process, at least in SA. I know guys who have had their 800hp built HT Monaros etc engineered and the cost was upwards of 5k after all said and done.

Yes. You talk about it with the engineer, present your case and argue why you should be allowed to run it. Apparently, you can't engineer 4-link rear-ends in NSW. Bullshit. Argue your case and you can get it past.

Engineering one car to another is totally different. A good friend has a big single turbo 2JZ in a 180SX in SA. Cost him $2k to get it all engineered. Another has a LS1 HiLux minitruck - $1500 engineered. Hell, a converted GX Liberty with a late model (2005) Spec C engine/loom/drivetrain was only $900 engineered.
