I did come here to say that this is not so bad as it will make the terrible drivers a bit safer. But then I thought, no it will really only make them less attentive and more dangerous, in many adverse conditions, on the road and certainly less aware in low speed situations, think parking garages. But really the answer is simple, PROPER DRIVER EDUCATION for everyone!

I've written complaint letters to all these car companies expaling to them how much this is a shit idea. They all just come back with the corporate mumbo jumbo. All they care about is dollars so if nobody buys them then it won't happen. Just hard to control all the stupid people who think it's good.

Only makes sence. i mean we as a westernized society are expected to multitask b/t work, and kids and BBM's and texting and a plethora of other tasks that we were not expected to 20-30 years ago. As technology increased and became more and more intrusive into our personal lives, it's only expected that we will have this technology very soon.

I mean honestly, how many of us on this board can honestly say that we never have our cell phones nearby to at least HEAR when we get a call or a text? Since lawmakers cannot stop motorists from using cell phones, this is obviously the next logical step.

I recall one of the reasons why we do not have cup holders in our e30's is because in Europe, ANYTHING that takes your attention away from the road was considered a distraction. As a result they were not put into cars. It's only because of the NA target market that BMW as well as several other European manufacturers have included them simply because the NA cars had them, and BMW didn't want to lose sales because of it.

It's only a matter of time children. I remember back when I was a kid in the 80's hearing of how MB started putting "airbags" into steeringwheels to prevent injury in crashes. Seemed comical at the time, as well as unnecessary, but now you can't buy a car without at least 2 (at least for the NA market, dunno what they are doing over at TATA motors)

I was pissed when those dumb commericials come out where the car warns if someones in your blind spot (fucking look over your shoulder dip shit) and the ones that correct your steering if going off the road (WTF are you doing to have a car correct your driving, obviously not paying fucking attention)

:up: Winner! Since inattentive drivers seem to be drawn to my cars, I couldn't agree more. LEARN HOW TO DRIVE! After having two of my cars mugged by idiots (the Alfa only once, but that killed it, and the roadster has been attacked 3 times, and all 4 incidents happened while I was going 0 mph) I've had it with people failing to pay attention to what is going on around them while driving.

I have had many folks get annoyed with me for not answering my phone when I was driving. I was asked once why I "can't talk and drive" at the same time. My reply was, "Because to drive my car requires both hands and feet." And this girl had never seen a manual transmission car.

This is an even more terrible idea. Most people have problems with trying to drive an automatic, let alone shifting gears and mixing up pedals.
