Are you embarrassed to frequent a car forum?
Does it make you feel insecure stereotypes such as "not having a life", etc..?
I'll be honest here. I don't like my friends knowing that I'm so into cars.
When I was a little kid, everyone knew I was into cars. It got to a point where it identified me as being strange for knowing so much about cars..
So that's why I decided to keep my passionate love for cars somewhat low-key, sans automotive forums. It's like a kind of sanctuary for me, and one of my greatest hobbies/loves in life. There was even a certain point that I drove a Volvo station wagon with the purpose of proving to girls that I wasn't into cars.
Therefore, most of my homies and girls that I have dated know nothing of my love for cars..except maybe the closest friends, family, and girls who would have to be blind and deaf to notice it.
I always thought that engaging in such behavior would turn away girls etc, but no longer being an 8th grader (thank you Baby Vivek ;-)), and having my fair share of girls in my teenage years, I don't really seem to care anymore. I know a lot of dudes on here are married, or in serious relationships or partnerships.. maybe it was just my then immature/insecure mind, but for some reason, I haven't been able to shake that notion in my head.
Recently, it was brought to my attention that my posts on a Peugeot Facebook group full of "characters
" were public, and all my friends could see my posts on it, with the other peoples' replies, etc.. Needless to say, I was somewhat embarrassed, and have thought about removing all ties from it - but I then realized that it was the main resource for me saving my Peugeot.
Anyways, do you feel that if your friends/partners knew that you frequented a car forum, they would judge you/think of you differently?
