reprogramming it is easy.. all you need is a laptop and a $10 cable.

the mods to the trans case couldn't cost more than $100-$200. you have to drill a couple holes and add a dowel, big woop.

vs $700+ to replace the SMG pump and have a girl's car. :p

I like them. Only thing is mileage kinda sucks iirc. If you're cool with that, valve adjustments and $350 water pumps you'll probably be ok.
      paint sucks

love the thing, has 223k, got the M wheels on it, sits right, makes a great comfortable daily driver, never left me stranded

i hear awesome things about the e46 M, when i find a white or grey one with the red interior im going to jump on it for sure

                Sup.

Favorite car yet, just a bit expensive to own.

No attention from cops...or poon, that I've noticed.

There is a white one with red interior in florida for sale.

If I was able to find the add again I would post it.

Seriously? My brother inlaw has one with SMG, the thing kicks like a wild bronco, I couldn't see anyone that is not a car enthusiast wanting to drive one everday.

Unless it was just his driving.

Anyways they are dropping in price alot I am looking forward to owning one in the next 5 years.

SMG can be very touchy. You have to be super smooth on the throttle or it'll bite you. I can't easily start off in sports mode without it kicking, and I generally have to keep my heel on the ground to make sure it's smooth enough. Once you get rolling it's awesome though.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Probably going to sell my e39 525it for one pretty soon. I have never owned a fast-ish car before so I think I'm due. Also never owned a convertible so if I find an e46 m3 vert than I will probably kill 2 birds with 1 stone. One of my clients has an 02 vert m3 silver with red interior that is just gorgeous, I keep prodding her to sell it to me and her son is almost drivers permit age so that just might happen. Last time I talked to her about it, she said her son didn't have a chance in hell of driving it but he is convinced she will just give it to him.

They are more reliable than e46 non-ms :( that said when they do need service; water pump, brakes, valve adjustment etc it gets expensive and like others have said STAY AWAY FROM ESS EMM GAY
