agreed, but the cost of his insurance may rise and red lights are a point. they stay on there for 5 years. 5 years of paying more insurance or pay more up front for the the traffic school along with no points on the license is worth more in some cases.

Yes I know this, but he stated he already went to traffic school last year which is less then 18 months ago. So his best bet is to plead his case to a judge and hope he gets some sympathy or buck up and pay the fine.

Cell phone violation is not a moving violation and does not require traffic school. It sounds like you attended needlessly. I would set up a court date and advise the judge that you were wrongly assigned traffic school, plead guilty and be humble. Good luck. If you have any other questions, pm me.

This, and explain you're a student, financially burdened by supporting yourself, and respectfully request a fine assessment. Sometimes you get them, sometimes they laugh. Up here you can do community service instead of paying the fine, that might be an option? They basically rationalize it as $10/hr, so you'd be looking at 48 hours LOL. It could be worth it. I did it at the Goodwill and just puffed with the guy in charge lol.

Yep, this is true. You can't be assigned traffic school for a ticket that is not a moving violation. Cell phone violation is just a pay-it-and-go ticket.

I would also fight the case as red light camera tickets are ridiculously easy to win. Most of the red light cameras are illegally operated and the judge will have to dismiss it. If you'd like more info, let me know.

You can either beat this or get off very lightly. I'd say there's a very good chance you can beat it.

^depending on the city they aren't enforced. Wherever in SD he got caught probably enforces it.

Sina, I've had my fair share of tickets but the rule regarding traffic school is you can only take it 18 months after any time youve taken it. Regardless of whether it was a moving violations. Im sorry breh but this one is gonna land you a point and 480 out yo pocket.

If it makes you feel any better. I just got a speeding ticket a few weeks ago. Should be right up there with you in fines.

How much does your guys' insurance go up every 6 months (or however often you pay insurance?)
I'm getting a decent discount for having over a 3.0 college GPA for 2 quarters in a row so far, but mehh.

Also, I am selling the BMW soon guys :(

Sad day for me, but I'm moving on to bigger and gayer things.

I pay $3,500 a year. Yea quite the driving record

They wanted an extra $6k to insure a motorcycle I was going to build lol.
Luckily all my tickets/points expired (3 year rule) in May of this year, so it should be going down considerably next time I renew.
