However, I do love the idea of an F-22 coming at you, and you shooting like a madman with you lame ass little assault riffle while mumbling something about the second amendment.

I may have a lot of things to complain about in the state that I live in but when people like you say shit like this about california... it makes me glad I live here.

And Nando, thats where I'm getting at. States don't have the rights they had 200 years ago so of course the military would be back by the Feds... which could be merely 'invited' into the state for control.

Well looks like you've been okay with living in the thick of a 'tyranny' for a while then. I guess we all can just throw around Jefferson quotes on the internet to make a difference though.

I was going to say exactly that.

Well farb yeah it really is for self defense just from what most people think of is all.

                  But you know that already

this comment is so ignorant it's comical. we have a couple valleys you might recognize- "silicon" and the san joaquin. if the other 49 were deprived of Ca. they would feel it.

f22's v small armed insurgents would not happen- we're more likely to see apaches which would be bad enough.

BTW, the u.s. military now has more than 10 years recent experience in counter-insurgency warfare. an unintended consequence of the war on terror? i think not.

To answer your question... our military is a military of volunteers. They have sworn an oath when joining to uphold and protect the constitution. A lot of the military are pro gun. My whole family is military and we have talked about this subject many of times. They even say its talked around small talk at the bases. They would stand down from the order.

If it went in for what ever military action rounding up guns. You would wake up a sleeping right winged monster and that would most likely be the end of what you know of the US today.

Just what you need, everyday citizens having fights with automatic weapons in the suburbs when one shot of a pistol from a well trained marksman would do the job.

If you're trying to justify owning AR's as a private citizen for the potential of a fire fight in your home your efforts should be put elsewhere, perhaps towards that which has made that scenario a possibility in the first place. Cry 2nd amendment all you want, I know here in Canada if someone is breaking into my home in the middle of the night chances are I'm not going to be staring down the barrel of a 30-round automatic rifle. We have it figured out, sort out your shit too plz.

THEY ARE NOT AUTOMATIC OR EVEN SELECT FIRE WEAPONS.

Educate your self so you dont look like a tool

if you guys have it so figured out why have you repealed your decade old failed draconian registration laws then ???

The long gun registry was a cash grab, nothing more nothing less.

And sorry for not knowing the technicalities of the weapons which fall under this, not being one to clutch to a weapon as though my life will shatter without it has not necessitated being that knowledgeable. Hence not addressing the Bill but the responses made by people here.

Well thats the biggest portion of the problem too many people (and politicians) assume because they look like scary military weapons they are the same thing. its like saying that the C6R GMs factory race car entry into the Le Mans series, and the production road going vette, counterpart are the same car because they look the same.

Registration is the 1st step and not far from confiscation, look to every other country that has gone down that path..... Cash grab in the interim is just a bonus

it has already happened here, laws were passed in s knee-jerk reaction to a mass shooting and caused a wide swath of guns to be declared "Prohibited weapons" and were seized without compensation.
to be caught with one would carry the same type of serious penalty as robbing a bank etc. (Strangely the shooter used a Mini 14 and they are still non-restricted, fair game. no AR's though as they are WAY to dangerous must be restricted only)
