I was just a sword bearer in a friends wedding that I was so not ready for. Got back the day before so I had to scramble to get my mess dress ready, I nearly bailed on him.

I thought I could do just that, get loaner decks.
the way my DJ software is designed doesn't permit "foreign" decks to be hooked up via my laptop.

I could have an identical deck hooked up, but it won't recognize it as they're security encrypted to my serial number. (I have NO idea why they do this...)

so that option is out the window.

I *do* have turntables and 20 years worth of vinyl, but they don't want 90's hiphop/breakbeats all night...

just emailed them..see what they say.

I dunno why this shit affects so much...I *hate* letting people down.

          my aussie brethen.

          I have a pair of directdrive T1200's..circa 1979, and a 30lbs Gemini 2 chan mixer.

if I could I would, but unfortunately my vinyl is not wedding friendly.

Any vinyl for sampling, like soul music etc? That stuff is all love songs, would be prime wedding material.

850 bucks for a fucking DJ?

^you'd be surprised, I forgot the hourly rate but it can go anywhere from 100 to 1000 an hour depending on how famous/good you are

back on topic, did you try to ask the company to expedite it in anyway? and the comment about getting with the times was for our aussie friend

I would front hard. Find a really good mix on soundcloud, download it, put it on the iPod or laptop then take decks and pretend to DJ all night.

                        Nobody would know.

Other thing is it's a wedding, the spot light is on the bride and groom so I doubt there will be too much focus on how well you're mixing, matching tempos and beat juggling. I doubt people would notice too much if you just played songs out of iTunes.

I don't charge per hour..it's per event....when i'm get requested by a club, my absolute minimum is 900, and that's spinning all night from 10pm-2am.

all bring are my decks in flight cases, laptops.

                          plug and play.

been dj'ing for about 15 years now, it's ALOT of time and patience and dedication.
alot of younger kids are getting REALLY good REALLY fast with the digital age.

and yes, asked N/I to expedite it, and they simply said it goes against policy.
I'd need to send mine out 1st, determine the problem, THEN they'd send a replacement out.
eye for an eye and they're turnaround is minumum 3-4 weeks.

if anything, like my wife told me this tech. fault COULD of happened DURING their reception...or worse at a club, and I would of looked like a idiot.

glad it happened @ home if anywhere.

OP, but ive never understood why people claim certain equipment or software to be "insudtry standard". Really its just used as a sales technique to get everyone to buy the same thing. Sure it works well for other people, but im not worried about that. Im more worried about what works for ME. There is a reason why im not a protools user. It just dosent work for me as well as Cubase does. And dont even mention Fl studio. You dont understand production if you use it. Youre a secuencer, not a producer.

                            End rant.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

                                completely understand your POV.

what I meant my industry standard is this.

years ago, "industry standard" was a pair of TT's and a mixer
                                went onto digital with CD's.

Pioneer was big in the game with their mk1 CDJ's...
all the clubs bought them, everyone knew how to use them

Eventually came Pio mk2, mk3 etc.

if you can use a mk3 you can use any mk1,2 from teh past....

with the S4, it's what most clubs have as their "in house" setup, and a DJ would more of less just bring their laptop, plug in and have at it.

it's the standard equipment you'd find within the industry.
