My GF does wedding photography... she's inexpensive for our area and her wedding packages start at around a grand... Nice little summer gig she's got going for 2 days worth of work.

You didn't let your friend down, it happens man. You stepped up big time though.
I would front hard. Find a really good mix on soundcloud, download it, put it on the iPod or laptop then take decks and pretend to DJ all night.
Nobody would know.
Boom, just prep something up and bring it. You'll be just as respected as doing the show legit because you still provided the service in the face of absolute catastrophe.
do NOT mention the equipment failure to either of them. make up stories or create situations and do everything you can to get them to break it off before 2 weeks! gl
I think you do the following- I haven't read your whole thread, just trying to help ASAP.
1. As a previous post suggested, attempt to beg borrow or steal the equipment in time to execute the event.
2. If all else fails- tell them as soon as possible. If you wait until the last minute to tell them, you can bank on them being pissed. If you give them a little breathing room in which to react, they'll be bummed, but would much prefer having two weeks to figure shit out than a few hours.
I missed my best buddies wedding because I couldn't afford to fly out to TX and my car wasn't gonna make the trip. I felt like shit.
How could that make you feel like shit?
I mean i know it sucks you cant make it, but its not your fault he lives so far away and you cant affod something like that. Im sure if your buddy is your close friend, they would understand your situation.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.
