This was my Eagle Scout project. At a local elementary school where meetings were held, there were several overgrown Manzinita bushes that blocked the cross walk, and posed a hazard for crossing students. I replaced it with sod as seen below:

I sat down with the owner of Park Avenue Turf and explained my project. He ended up donating every single supply. It was VERY generous of him, he donated the sod, fresh soil, shovels for everyone, rollers to flatten the sod, hell even gloves.
The best thing to do is go to local businesses and see if they would be willing to donate to your project. I went in hoping for a discount, because everything has to be worked off of a budget-and he was so ecstatic about the project they covered it all. I think it's something like 2%-3% of Boy Scouts make it all the way to Eagle. Congratulations, believe me it's something that will follow you your entire life. It's a major plus with schools, jobs, hell even police haha. I've always had a great reaction from people when the fact I'm an Eagle Scout comes up-it shoes initiative, dedication, and devotion. It's a very respectable award.
