For the most part if you're respectful, but not kissing their butt, you may get away with some stuff. I've been pulled over 26 times, but only had 6 citations. This is not counting the random, "You're tailight is out" kinda stop.

I've also found that if they ask, "Do you know how fast you were going?" My standard reply of, "Yes I sure do." or "Yes sir." Usually is good enough. I never admit what speed I was going, because they might have had me on radar when I was actually decelerating.

And believe me I have known some cops and troopers who were absolute asses, but for the most part they've been OK.

Qft. In Charlotte, on I-77 the speed limit is 55, if you're doing 70 you have to be in the right lane and everyone is still passing you. Cops don't bother with anything under 75 since there are so many people going faster. Virginia is fucking terrible though.

The thing in virginia is you get pulled for doing that, and no other reason, other than cops are complete assholes around here.

Its surprising when cops always break that law themselves, but feel like they are entitled to pull over people doing 5mph over the limit.

I'm not 12 and I know there are consequences for actions. Going 5mph over the speed limit is not "stupid"

but it IS illegal, and if you KNOW the cops will pull you over for it, then it IS stupid to cry to mama when you get caught.

We have provincial insurance company sponsored highway patrol units who's sole responsibility is to catch vehicles and drivers who are in conflict with the regulations and laws. They don't give a shit if you're a bank robber, but if you have a tail light that's out best believe you're getting a ticket. We have bill 203 in Ontario which essentially gives cops the ability to say that any kind of reckless driving is street racing and do an immediate 7-day roadside impound, slap you with a $10,000 fine for doing 50km/hr over and for the first conviction a 2 year driving suspension. Keep crying that you've got it so bad.
