you should give a listen to some of the older stuff. sure it'd be a culture shock for you, but believe it or not, i think you might even agree with some of the lyrics and messages.

...For example, you can't have fun with Immortal Technique songs can you? Most of them revolve around real world causes and issues or he's just rapping about bullshit that goes on in our world and it's seriously not something you can play at a party or get together...

lol yeah, that's a good way to kill a party. there's a time and a place for everything. if i'm feeling (faux)nostalgic (cause well.. i'm a suburban white kid), i'll listen to some Jurassic 5, if i wanna get angry, Jedi Mind Tricks, wanna try to understand it's Common or Nas. lyricism is great, but sometimes you just want to have fun and that's what mainstream music does.


funny enough if you look at the list of producers and featured artists, Kanye is working with rappers on both sides of the old-school/mainstream spectrum. Raekwon and Kid Cudi. John Legend and some dude named 2-Chainz. Ghostface Killah and R. Kelly. you think these people have the same arguments we're having about the music?


that said.. i just gave a listen to some of the new stuff off of Cruel Summer, and i think i need to warm up to it. a couple tracks kinda sounded like the chopped and screwed style and i never really liked that.

Well put, the album did take a couple listens to fully appreciate it for me. I actually really like it just because there are artists on there that most people overlook and underrate. 2 Chainz is really shitty though...But hey, Ye is making money off of him!

You know, I agree that music should have real instruments and what not, but in the current generation, people (including me) listen to things like trance, house, dubstep, dnb, etc. and those have not even a hair of real instruments in it. Does that mean I can't enjoy it though? I can listen to country, classical, rock, dubstep, hip hop, dnb, rnb or whatever and if it sounds good, that is music.
