I found a backpacker. Define a "REAL" hip hop artist. Hip hop has many different subgenres, such as more conscious stuff like Mos Def, Aesop Rock, or Del, and party music like Meek Mill. To dismiss mainstream artists as "not real" is idiotic. It's just a different style.

Kanye is actually a decent lyricist, and there are many "mainstream" artists that are brilliant, Outkast for example, even Jay-Z.

I agree, and Outkast is definitely in my top 5. Big Boi and 3 stacks are amazing when it comes to their rhymes and flows, just wish they would put some new stuff out.

Album fucking blew. I'm the biggest kanye west fan in the world, I think he's the tops, no artist better. His rapping sucks at this point, but there isn't a better artist. IMO he's super selfish, I fell like he isn't putting 100% into albums that aren't his own like this one and watch the throne both felt half assed. Only song that was good that wasn't on the radio was clique, JayZ is still insane. Pusha T is the best pound for pound rapper out right now, he killed every song that was on the radio. Wayne is going down hill fast. I don't know which was worst this album or dedication 4.

That's unfortunate you don't like the album. I don't blame you though because it is true that he isn't putting his best into these albums. I wouldn't go on to say his rapping sucks though, because he still carries the style that he has had from his roots and that is what really makes him stand out. But, like you, he is my favorite rapper/artist and I know he has something up his sleeve later on. I found this album to be really entertaining having so many good artists on one album, and as well as Watch the Throne, although some of it was just fucking around on beats. Honestly, I wouldn't take these albums very seriously. When he puts out his solo, that's when i'll be the critic.

I can agree with that, at this point it's clear Kanye is focusing on production again and this album is a testament to his skills in that area. Beautifully produced and finished.
