    How does the tape/aux sound?

    Hello.
I just discovered this at frys the other day.

Has anyone here used these things?
Are they basically just crappy tape quality sound?
As long as they're like FM stereo i'm ok, but
from memory tapes sounded really lo-fi shit. Like an AM radio. :)

    Thanks for looking.

They sounded fine in some of my friends' cars on a stock sound system. I don't know if I would consider myself picky about sound quality though

Ahhh memories. I used to roll around with one of these in my first e30 and had it hooked to my portable CD player.

White Zombie full blast on the factory non-premium sound system. Oh yeah.

I used one in my WRX forever and it didn't sound bad at all. Alot cheaper than a headunit and it works.

Also, CrusherCurtis needs to fix his sig. The distortion in the photos annoys me hahaha.

I use one with my stock radio in my m3. Doesn't sound that bad.

My mom rocks one in her '99 Tahoe and it sounds fine to me, I crank that shit up and i don't have a problem with it.

I use one in my work vehicle and in my E30, and I think both sound just fine. I'm also not an audiophile by any stretch, but they work just fine. I don't want to remove my stock tape deck in the E30 and replace it with something that I know will never look right.

If you're super picky you might turn your nose up at it, if you just want to hook your phone up to your half decent stereo you'll be fine. Buy it, try it out, return it if it sucks. The packaging on those things is usually such that you can buy and return if necessary.

                    horrible omg

I bought a $7 one through amazon prime though. maybe a better quality one would be better. spend the money for a radio unless you love that oem e30 radio

ps if anyone has an oem e30 radio, I'll buy one.

Loved using it with my factory radio till the tape deck died. Still use one at work and my truck. Totally worth it!

Make sure you buy a good one. Cheap one from ebay sounded like shit but $15~$20 ones that I've been gone through sounded pretty good.

Instead of doing that, wire in AUX to the tape. Google it, it's very easy, and sounds much better than the tape adapter.

Maybe ill give that a try to get my factory setup back in place. Seems a bit more involved than just buying a tape adapter though.
