Politically, Austin is just like California.

There have been a huge influx of people that have moved into Texas recently. As long has you dont vote as a commie-fornian, I dont care. Very few people are natives here in Dallas at least. My wife is a native Texan...so I guess I can be too? lol

I've always wondered this about CA and what the general population thinks of living there. For the most part, I hear people complain about a lot of stuff like too many people, traffic, etc...but that the weather makes it all worth it to be there.

I visited San Fran a few years back and liked it, but could never see myself living there.

I can see the appeal to living in California. In the same day, you can be in the mountains, sand dunes and then the beach.

The winters here in Texas are pretty mild. You could ride a motorcycle almost all year around except for like 2 weeks out of the year.

Summer is hot. You go from AC to AC.

Funny that, part of the reason CA sucks is because it’s gotten more commie (is that possible??). So much political correctness it’s oppressive. I’m no republican, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of room for different points of view.

not sure how much politics we can get into here; the socialist mentality is killing California. "let's give all this stuff away for "free"" Then they try and figure out how to pay for it...or just go more into debt.

This. Even though no one does it, I guess it’s just the possibility of doing it. I live 5 minutes from one of the best driving roads in the state, maybe the country. So that doesn’t suck. What keeps me here is family, really. And the fact that it’d be really hard to come back (expensive) if we left.

Agree. And we pay for it with 10% income tax and 10% sales tax....and there’s still ginormous potholes waiting to kill a wheel or alignment...

Tax season has been fun this year, explaining why we all owed thru the nose to the Feds. The income tax cap has totally fucked blue states with high income taxes and high mortgage debt. Yet another reason to bail.

In other news, it’s about 75 out right now and gorgeous. I did the front brakes on the E30 yesterday in shorts. So there’s that.
