    Garage Floor Paint

    Hey guys,

Calling those who have painted their garage floors with the epoxy and paint, let me know what brand you used and how you like it. I'm getting ready to do mine and not sure what brand is the best and which one to stay away from.

Epoxyacrl. Is nice. Sold in most paint stores. It resists hot tire pick up

            Epoxy is commonly used.
My dad did his garage floor in epoxy and it has held up for more than 10 years now with no sign of damage or wear and the garage got a lot of use. Makes cleanup easy and looks good too.

I just did mine 4 months ago. Was gonna buy the one they recommend on garage journal but couldnt wait for shipping. Defiently clean the concrete with the muriatic acid. I then polyepoxy filled all cracks. Then used the quickcrete garage epoxy from lowes. Turned out perfect no problems.

How about any concrete that outside but covered? My mom is gettin her driveway repaved and had a pad poured under the carport. Its where i do the majority of work on my car and dont want to worry about staining the virgin cement.

Epoxy it, being outside it will probably degrade faster because of the elements. But better than nothing. I just take a rag and wile up any mess so simple

I have painted both my shop floors with one part epoxy and it doesn't last long. Couldn't afford 2500sf of 2part but one day will.

How much floor traffic does it see though? Somebody's garage doesn't see as much as a commercial shop.

Spill brake fluid on it once and it will strip right back to concrete. Trans fluid and fuel will make it look like alligator skin in an hour, and it scratches it very easy. My old shop was just me and 1000sf and it looked decent for about 6mos.

This was after pressure washing, degreaser, acid etching, then 1 part epoxy.

It cost me about $1200 in 1 part and a ton of labor. Looked real good at first.

Old shop when I moved in...

Old shop when I moved out...

New shop when we moved in (lacking final coat in the front)...

Too much stuff in the shop now to give you a good view, but the entire floor now looks like this...

Wolverine is amazing. Oil doesn't touch it. Brake fluid doesn't touch it. Hell, we use brake cleaner to clean it up every now and then. It cleans up to almost brand new after 4years of heavy use. The only damage to the finish is where we dropped an engine block (concrete gouge) and a few spots where molten metal splattered.

I'm told that Wolverine is also what they used at the Spartanburg plant.

The concrete was acid prepped before we laid it down and this shit sticks.

My parents' garage was done with U Coat It, and that was crap. It comes up when you park a car with sticky tires on it.

Edit: basically, do it right or don't waste your money at all.

Sweet, this is what I'm looking for. How pricey is it? Anybody else have any brands to stay away from?

                            Thanks

I couldn't say. I helped lay it down, but didn't buy it. Whatever it was, it's worth it.
