My oldest kid has some sort of disorder and has not been disgnosted yet (working on it). It is very hard in parents and even harder with the kid and siblings having to deal with this stuff...we would buy some of the shirts/stickers.

For any of you in the Portland area with an autistic child, here's a "sensitive Santa" event at Lloyd Center:

I am thankful everyday that my daughter isn't at all effected by Autism, it seems to me to be one of the scariest common occurances for kids these days. With so many unanswered questions it is even scarier to me. I have great respect for what parents have to go through with this, it is amazing what people can find it in themselves to be able to do when something like this happens.

Couldn't stop listening to NPR's Fresh Air last night.. It's an interview with an author about a book not on Autism, but on the parents. Sat in the parking lot for the whole interview. I'm not even a parent, but I might have to get his book.

Just to keep everybody informed, I'm still looking around at silk screen companys, trying to find someone reasonably priced or even somebody able to donate thier time and materials towards the cause because I would really like to see 100% of the money raised from the shirts and stickers to go to charity

It seems like it may be hard for someone to donate the material, depending on how many you're looking to get done. What if you calculated a specific amount you plan to have made, figure costs for that, then take/charge pre-orders to fund the actual run. Think group buy, or a kickstarter kind of thing.

People would/should be interested in donating w/ a shirt or not, so you could even just ask for donations and have the shirt or whatever be a "possible" bonus. With $45 a shirt, you should be able to afford shirt costs fairly easy even with all the colors. I'd ask a shop to waive "printing start" costs and charge just cost for materials (as they would be donating their time). That shirt design has a lot of colors, may want to re-do it with just the M colors and only on the front big to save some $.

Open up a shirt group buy feeler for everyone (national shipping) and see where it goes. Specifically ask people not to put their name on the list unless they are serious though. Shirts should only cost <$6 for shipping if you stuff them in a small flat rate box or padded envelope.

Check out houseofgrafix.net I have bought some stickers from them and I am aranging for them to make me some custom ones. They are a really good company and they might just be able to give you a discount because of the cause.

absolutely brilliant idea, there needs to be more awarness upon mental health related issues and challenges.

my ex-wife was a CYC (child youth councilor) and I would often volunteer my time with many high functioning autistic/aspergers children.

                          Unreal how they function.
This one little boy, 9 years old at the time...lets call him "Mike"
I would hang out with Mike, we'd often go to the park, head to the mall, watch the SAME fken movie over and over again "Titanic".
He'd read and read and read, the same sports stats magazine all the time, finally went to the NHL museum in our local down and he would NOT SHUTUP! it was incredible.

I knew him for about two months, barely ever spoke a word....take him to the NHL Museum and he just flourished, I never say anything like it...knowing who "Guy Lafleur" was, his number, his stats and he was RIGHT on most of the stuff...

honestly a genius traped in a little boy.

                          anyhow/end rant.
I fully support and would encourage more ideas like this

I am waiting to hear back from a company here in Washington. The owner is on vacation untill the first of the year so I won't know untill then. Lately I just have not had the time to pound the pavement like I should(working full time and looking for another job on top of that). hopefully after christmas things will be easier and I will have more time for this. I will get a presale thread going sometime next month, I just wanna get a fer more bids. If there is anybody who would like to take the raines as far as getting the stickers made have at it, otherwise I probably wont get around to them untill have the first round of shirts are gone.

two of my cousins have autism and after seeing everything my aunt has to do for them I have so much respect for parents of autistic kids.
the cruise is an awesome idea. it'd be so cool if we all wrapped our mirrors or something in that puzzle vinyl.
