    my mom deals with kids that the school system likes to ignore. it's gotta be tough some days but other times she tells me stories that just warm your heart.. she loves those kids.

    i just threw this together really quickly:

      Be a better turn out if it were an 'All Makes for Autism' likely. True test of a parents patience with this one. So far my son is in the clear.

      I would support it in any way I could.

        I know of a good amount of people with this. A drive/fund sounds like a good idea and I would be more than willing to donate to the cause. I would participate in the drive but it seems like its gonna be on the east coast unless there was both. I give lots of respect to parents with autistic children and the troubles and hardships they face every day. But there is no greater feeling than seeing one of those kids smile and be happy.

          Ive spent the last 15 years working with folks with Autism. 8 of those years I ran a non-profit that owned and staffed group homes for Autistic adults. The last seven years I have been a teacher for students with Autism at the local school district. OP, I can say from experience that getting some type of cruise for awareness, or anytype of local support group is IMHO one of the most helpful things you can do for your, and other families in your position.
          Rock on man, you are awesome!

              Thats a awesome concept man!! I think it would work better for a t-shirt IMO. As far as a cruise I thought because April is Autism Awarness month, each region can organize a run and we could dontate any proceeds as a nationwide car club. I can E mail the Autism society of america and find out what they would want R3V to do, since it would be a regional run, they would have POC for each region in order to collect donations. I was also thinking about getting some stickers and t-shirts made up and sell 'em at next years picnic

                    I knew a kid w/ some form of autism that graduated a couple yrs ahead of me in highschool. He went on to a local community college and from there, he transferred to ucla to pursue a bs in c.s.

                    really dope kid too, just a bit awkward in social situations but totally gifted in math and sciences :up:

                      Friends of ours have an autistic son. He's quite famous here in Ottawa, and on Facebook and YouTube. Tommy is a very special person.

                        I'm in. Would be great if we could organize a date and each respective state/region sets something up for people who want to support!

                          In deed it would. April 2nd is National Autism Awarness day but it falls on a tuesday this year which I know would make it hard for a lot of people to attend. Posably the saturday or sunday after??? thers plenty of time to get a date set in stone, just want to make sure if this is going to be a nationwide event, I would want every region/state to be on the same page in order to raise as much awarness and money as possible

                            I'm down to be a part of this. I can corral more people through Cascade Cars and Coffee Portland as well.

                              I emailed Autism Speaks last night about what would need to be done in order to the fundraising part of the cruise organized. Here's what I'm thinking;

                              $20 for the cruise( maybe 100 miles round trip)
                              $45 for cruise and e30's for autism t-shirt

                              All proceeds would go Autism Speaks to fund research for understanding this disorder.

                                This is an awesome idea. Would rock one of those weather it was a sticker or a t-shirt. I wish I lived in WA so I could go on a cruise like the ones you guys are talking about.
