It was designed for touch; unless you are running it on a tablet, don't bother.

Your talking about the RT Version, there is a version with an upgraded dedicated desktop.

          Research is sometimes useful.

Actually I like it, its different but not too bad. I do wish the 2 screens would work together better. Its almost like 2 different operating systems in 1.
My laptop was running super shitty on windows 7 before so now on a clean windows 8 install, its like a new computer. I wouldn't put this on a computer that you have to actually be productive on though. Everything takes a lot more steps to do.

is there any place (besides torrent/burn to disk) to get windows XP? i loved that shit i wanna go back in time when i build myself a comp. I hate this wanna-be-mac interface, On this computer I have 7 and i don't run Aero, just windows classic display, everything as basic as can be.

Side note, anyone know of a good forum/information dump on linux/unbuntu/whatever that i could read up on? Shame on me, but i never kept with evolving tech in computers through the years

No desire to ever trade up from 7. Never been more happy with a Windows OS since XP.

Yeah I left my desktop with windows 7 since that's where I actually do work and its perfect for how I use it. With win8 you really have to jump through hoops to get anything done but its looks good and should hopefully just get better.

Just like Vista with all that confirm this and confirm that bs just to open some random program ... And windows 7 wanted to update literally every time I put the laptop running that program on, which was about once a week, and every time it updated something fucked up... I disabled updates :D .... but it's still slow as hell on the laptop ... not ideal at all for what I use it for..

so if windows 8 is a step up in the same direction I'll never use it ... XP Pro is where it's at still for me as all programs I need is supported and it works best out of all other windows programs I've used ... OK 95 and 98 is good too but not so much for running games and programs anymore >.<.

yeah everything he did in that video is easily figured out within 5 minutes of booting into Windows 8. I've been testing 8 on several pieces of hardware (tablet, laptop and desktop) for several months now and I would not recommend it unless your strictly running a touch device.

Research is very useful, I just prefer to do it myself rather than spending 30s on Youtube.

lol at people still on xp. Win 7 is fantastic. Xp IS obsolete at this point. Many programs won't even run on it anymore. I will however turn my nose up at Win 8.
