    Why get a E36 M3 sedan??

Hey guys, So im at a turning point in my Life.
I Dont know what tommrow brings,so im kinda trying to prepare my self.

Ive sold alot of my stuff and still working on selling more.

As most of you know I have my M535i euro e28.
The car just to make it a daily driver is a pain in the ass.

Between the emissions/insurance issues with the vin. Its just really hard to just drive it and not worry about the cops getting on my ass.

Its a pain to insure my car, because of the vin number. I cant get collector insurance because i only make enough for one car. Then comes the emission crap. Ive came up with a plan to get by the emission shit.

if i just dump the old high mileage euro motor, and install a B35 With 1.3 then a chip and a Miller maf,and then it will not only be emission friendly,it will be faster as well.

But im still stuck with a car that is a pain to insure.
I worry soo much about some ass crashing into me.

"This is why i dont wanna do body work/paint"
Money is hard enough for me as it is,id rather put it in something else like suspension or motor. as i can always pull it out,if the grim reaper comes.

The goal on my car is just make it a good daily driver where i can not worry about it. I passed on the E34 540I/6 because the gas mileage on the M60 kills me. I love the M30,because its simple enough where i can work on it,and still afford the gas and have fun while driving it.

For the last year ive told everyone the only car that i would sell my princess for is a Jeep liberty. That car in reality is a Jeep and is gonna be braking down more then my car...

Ive spent the last year fixing/repairing the old crap and its somewhat of a car where i dont have to worry about things.

Ive been looking around, and have come to terms that the only cars that i can afford and still have fun is.

    E30 IX sedan,or a E36 M3 sedan.

What you guys think, I should do?

I have to be responsible about this.

These are both US Cars so insurance wouldnt be a issue, and neither would emissions. The price for these in better shape is about what i can get for my car.

I liked my e36m3 sedan. It was pretty fun to drive around town and nice to have the extra room.

but if money is tight I think I would stick with an e30.. M3's aren't crazy expensive to maintain but if you have to do a lot of things at once its going to add up quick

I would do the e30.I owned both cars the e36 parts cost more and add up like said above. The e30 easy to work on and parts cheaper.

m3's aren't really that expensive to maintain. Last I checked I'm about $4100 into mine, including the purchase price. I bought an m3/4/5 that had the cooling system replaced/upgraded, headgasket done, vanos rebuilt, bilstein/konis, urethane bushings, always ran on royal purple etc. I did the ignition tumbler, column lock, oil filter housing gasket and profile gasket. I ground off a bit of surface rust isolated to 2 spots and hit them with touch up paint, and it's pretty damn clean.

Road trip to Philadelpha and back, no problems. It's treated me pretty well, the key is preventative maintenance not wait-til-it-breaks.

They're so affordable now, and you get so much car for your money. I love e30's and would like to get an e30m3 some day, but the e36 is so affordable and daily drivable

replace the water pump plastic propeller.I guess if you keep it stock and dont poor a but load money in it like i did in my 4 dr e36 m3 it will just be maintenance.
I bought mine 13k and in total had 26k in it when I sold it for 8,500.

a jeep Liberty is hardly a "jeep" in the traditional sense. also, a well maintained Cherokee or Wrangler does not by definition break that often if you aren't using it off road, and of course maintaining it.
I mean it is a newer car, if you get one that isn't a pile of shit I would think you are ok...Fuel may be an issue as it has the aerodynamics of a brick.

my father had an early 2000's grand cherokee. he liked the handling in the snow but it had so many problems once it hit 100k.

he bought an e34 m50 touring, loves it

I prefer driving my e36 m3 over the e30 (which I've already sold)
The e30 was a cool-looking car, fun to tinker on, and fun around town, but for commuting I prefer the m3. 214,000 miles on it (50,000 are my miles), and no serious issues, and it handles like a bauce.

Only reason i can think of to get a E36 is building a M3 touring, if you need the room and likes to go a bit fast but dont have the money for something else. Never liked the E36 at all..

Sell it and buy an e30. You dont want the e36, you just want the s52.

therein lies my point. how many hours have we spent doing swaps? that shit takes a while! always downtime waiting for parts, etc. then the time to swap 5lug?

why not just buy something for $5-7k that already has everything you need?
