We closed our NY and NJ offices today but not the TPA or ATL offices LOL. I dont get it. Hurricanes usually travel north from the caribbean right?

It seems like everyone in RVA is freaking out about it. They closed VCU today, which just means that I can get a full 8 hours of work in today. So thats sorta nice.

I went to Kroger last night expecting panic, but the only thing i noticed was that the spaghetti sauce selection was a little low.

I'm on the firestation grid, so i dont have to worry about power going out for more than a few minutes. I guess my biggest preparation was parking the vert on a flat spot so the water can drain evenly from the car and not pool inside.

Overall? not worried in the least.

a little off topic, but i'm counting my lucky starts...

I had booked a surprise b-day present for my wife and I for her 30th bday.

Originally had planed a Jamaican getaway, in which we were supposed to be in Jamaica right now.

last minute stuff happened, had to cancel that, and ended up going to Samana Dominican instead 2 weeks ago.

otherwise, if that didnt' happen, we'd be sitting pretty in a resort dealing with a Hurricane.

    dodged that bullet:-)

Media overhypes it like usual. More viewers and better to predict more extreme conditions than underestimate in retrospect. Same thing with every hurricane we have like irene lasy year. It's really nothing worse than a bad storm we usually have around here - lots of wind and rain. I'd say you should only be worried if your right on the ocean or somewhere that it usually floods. My e thirties are safe in my garage.
