For Star Wars fans, this is a huge deal. George Lucas has controlled the franchise since day 1. He made 3 atrocious prequels, butchered the originals, and then said there would never be any more Star Wars. Basically, he took a huge dump on those of us who grew up watching Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. So, it's a breath of fresh air to know that there will be some fresh Star Wars material and under different direction. I mean, you can't really get any worse than the prequels so I for one am happy.

Why are people upset? Star Wars has been trashed already. The best comment I've heard on this subject is that it would be like a second iceberg going down and hitting the titanic.

If we are lucky, they will be able to dig up and release unfucked versions of the originals. ...if Lucas hasn't burned them.

I loved all the star Star Wars movies. Attack of the clones was a underwhelming but overall I enjoyed them. Have been a stars wars geek as long as I can remember.

I have thought for a long time that someone ought to buy Star Wars and continue the legacy. and imho, Disney has done a great job with Pirates of the Caribbean, and if they could do the same with Star Wars, I think that is all it will need.
