Smugglers, man how they are creative

YUMA, Ariz. -- Suspected smugglers tried to drive a Jeep over a 14-foot-high border fence using a makeshift ramp early Tuesday, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Station were patrolling in the Imperial Sand Dunes area just after midnight when they saw the silver Jeep Cherokee attempting to drive over the International Boundary fence.

When the vehicle made it to the top of the ramp, it became "high centered" and got stuck. The two suspects fled into Mexico.

After removing the Jeep from the fence, agents seized both the vehicle and the ramp.

Officials didn't say if the suspects were trying to smuggle drugs or illegal immigrants into Arizona.

This is why we need minefields along the fence.

Saw something where they would build retractable ramps onto trucks, drive up, drive over, drive away.

That is a pretty strong fence to support 2 tons on a few stakes.

            Amazing.

The ones that really blow me away are the drug-smuggling submarines. Incredible.

Drug Smugglers Tunnel Into Arizona Parking Spaces
By RANDY KREIDER | ABC News – Wed, Oct 12, 2011
The parking meters on International Street, which hugs the border fence in Nogales, cost 25 cents. Smugglers in Mexico tunneled under the fence and under the metered parking spaces, and then carefully cut neat rectangles out of the pavement. Their confederates on the U.S. side would park false-bottomed vehicles in the spaces above the holes, feed the meters, and then wait while the underground smugglers stuffed their cars full of drugs from below.
