I dont know about when TJ was at home, but the Cost of living in Central Florida is CHEAP compared to what we have here. Housing is a little high, but everything else (food, gas, most comsumer items) are cheaper.

Yeah I would say property can be quite expensives but I know the cost of living is lower than a lot of areas.

Yeah, things aren't too bad here. I mean sure, the housing market is booming and the real estate values are through the roof, but we're not planning on buying for a few years, got to get some money saved up. In the meantime, I pay a very low rent on a pretty nice house, we're very happy in it. The cost of living here is not too bad. Gas is good, and most other things are pretty reasonable as well. I suppose it doesn't help that I have 2 somewhat expensive hobbies, snowboarding and my car, but luckily only one of them gets the brunt of the monetary end of my attention for the better part of the year. Like I said before, we're doin just fine at the moment. Things are going great right now, and with my little girl slated to arrive in less than a month, I couldn't be happier.

Sounds like contruction work to me... out here construction jobs bang like $20+ hour for the guys who've stuck with it for a year... starting is usually 15-18.

Although $1500/month will get you a crappy house with no parking, $2000/month will get you a crappy house WITH parking, and $2500+ for a decent house :P

$20+ an hour is getting into college graduate territory around here. Construction can pay as low as $8 or so, but $1500 a month would buy a pretty damn nice house here.

hey construction pays well if you stick with it and find the right place to work. I'm at $21 and change + full benifits.

Just a little update to this most happening of happenings. Day before yesterday, the new supervisor of our department walked up to me and said, "So, you're going to Quality Control, huh? Too bad, we're losing the best worker up here."

Then today, toward the end of the day, he tells me "I was just talking to Steve Bettis (production manager, the big cheese), and he was saying how if he could just get more employees like you, we'd be set."

I've only been working at this place for a year. But in that year, I've busted my ass everyday, and it looks like it hasn't been going unnnoticed. I'm starting to think I could have a pretty good future in this comany, at the rate I'm already starting to move up, and based on the pretty damn good opinion of me that management has. :D

hell yeah, I hate when your hard work goes unnoticed. I've busted ass for so many bosses who just pile more work on me to lighten the load on lazyasses. Good for you to actually get noticed, too many people nowadays are panties who cant hack it.

On a similar note I just got two jobs for next semester.

TA for a Statics course, and web developer for the library here. Good times.
