The first place I thought of when you said you want to work with atv'z and such, and wanted a scenery change was the north east.

        Like Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine

        Either way good luck man

Check out Roanoke, VA and Greensboro, NC. Both would be good places to raise a family.
Roanoke is where I grew up. Very pretty area. Up and coming small city w/ lots of surrounding counties. Good school system. Cost of living isn't bad. Its right off the blue ridge parkway. I didn't appreciate how nice it was growing up there, but i can see it now. City is in a valley so there are mountains everywhere. Skiing just north in WV. Smith Mtn. Lake 45 min away. Weather is nice - all 4 seasons, but never too extreme in any way for to long.

This Guy pretty much sums it up. I moved out here(San Diego) from Nashville. Ive been here two years and have a 1.5 years old boy. While I absolutly LOVE San Diego, I miss my Family, I miss Nashville in general, I miss my old way of living and i miss my guns. I havent been fishing since I moved here, went shooting once, never get to go out on a full moon and shoot this shit with my friends. And kids seem to Raise themselves around here (manners? haha i had a 10 year old to tell me to F>>K off when I asked him to stop tearing down our communities Christmas tree). My wife and I both have to work full time jobs Staggering our schedule So ones works while the other is off to watch our boy. Things would be much easier if we had Family out here but its a hard road on your own. Keep in mind Im only 24 but the same principles apply.

She told me to tonight that we never fight anymore, I told her we never get the opportunity. (It hit me hard, I miss the little things)

Be careful what you wish for.
            I'm cooler in person.

Id say look in the LA/OC area. The off road scene is HUGE. Every bro has a bike or quad. Plenty of work. Its not as bad as most put. However like iron-e said its fast paced life here. Depending what area your want to live in will determine cost. Yes the cost of living is higher here but you also make more $$$. Great weather and yes we also have the biggest e30 scene regardless what others might think.

I didnt choose to mover here but im org from Atlanta GA. Well guess what, Fu/< that place, I hate the ppl and weather out east. Its diverse out here and thats a good thing.

cant beat a sun set pic like this!

but yeah dont come here lol

It's going to be hard to get an interview with an out of state resume. I'd suggest calling up the places that are hiring and talking to the hiring manager.. but even then they rarely want to assume the responsibility of hiring someone who is new to the area (ie: you might hate it there and move away in a few months/etc) i'm in automotive and every job i've landed is by recommandation or by meeting the owner of the company at shows/etc.

So I have received two call backs!

One is a few hours south of me in Tampa. I had a proper phone interview and we have a time setup for Wednesday to me to drive down and interview.

The other is in Redondo Beach, Ca. Which I believe e30trooper is in your neck of the woods. I am very excited about this one! We are going to setup a formal phone interview for this week and if all goes well they will fly me out.

                  Thoughts???

If I may be blunt, I agree California will most likely not make you or your family happy. I would HIGHLY consider checking out Idaho like Farbin suggested (specifically Boise, so the change in scenery isn't as extreme as say... Blackfoot) or eastern Montana.

Look into snow-mobile/Kat repair at a ski resort or thereabouts.

Hey, what's wrong with Blackfoot? I moved here from LA.

Jk, I know, it would be tough for some, and I even thought I was insane, sometimes I still do. I think Idaho Falls or Pocatello are quite nice, and I lean more towards Pocatello because of the younger demographic due to the University.

Eastern. MT. Are you SRS, have you ever been there before......... um unless your going to work in the oil fields or for BNSF you will not have a job, and eastern mt is the true definition of bfe so unless you are like me and just want to avoid all people and have a 3 hour ride to the closest Walmart or big box store and a 100 miles to the nearest real grocery store I suggest he look else where

I can't live that far out, the little woman likes to be with in 45mins of town at the most

Yellowstone club ehhhh, yeah I know what your saying I live in view of big mountian in whitefish and black tail in lakeside, The thing is in most places in western mt you can't find a job that will allow you to actually live here, real estate and cost of living has exploded in the last 10 years, and the CA imports have chased out all the industry other than service jobs and tourism

California is beautiful, that's a given. or else it would t have the reputation that it does.
I saw that you said you're on a budget and also want a nice quiet place to raise your kids.
have you looked into the inland empire of California? the cost of living out here is WAY less than in downtown. less money, less people, but you still get the diversity and beautiful California weather. and the beach, desert, snow, and downtown are all only an hour away.
and don't worry about the traffic, you learn how to deal with it.
and like e30trooper said, your industry is bangin over here, and the e30 scene is insane. as well as the whole car scene in general! you have REAL jdm cars in San Gabriel, exotics through mulholland, and Baja trucks out in San Bernardino.
I'm not bashing other people's suggestions, other places are nice too, but c'mon lol, California is California man, nothing like it. Cheap in certain areas, good for your family, good for your work and hobbies, and it's beautiful. You and your family will really enjoy it out here man.
