Sucks, saw it on the news. Can happen anywhere, and from what I read under some conditions flying an empty jet could be more difficult than a full jet.

Also, in the past Russian pilots would move up the ranks as they get more experience, now there is shortage of very experienced pilots due to the demand and number of air lines etc.. and many are trained on simulators and have lack of experience.
