    Anyone use a spinner knob?

recently I was in Saskatchewan, and my MIL has had one fitted to her car that I purchased for her (2011 Sonata which she loves!). She also has a hand control for her gas and brakes.

Anyway, since my SO and I didn't have any other way of getting around, we borrowed her car on a few occaisions. After using the spinner knob, I really had become to enjoy using the thing. I then realized that since I drive a manual and since I hardly ever have both hands on the wheel, I really dont' see why I can't have one for my car as well (aside from them being against the law unless I illustrate that I need one)

Anyone else use one? I think the only place they aren't illegal is in Saskatchewan.

If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

I do...but only when driving big trucks. I would never use one on an E30...just not necessary with it's relatively quick steering rack. They can also damage the steering wheel but yes they come in handy, particularly if you routinely tow things on a trailer. It makes parking a lot easier.

My uncle had one on his 56 chevy pickup. I was in the car with him when it snapped and his hand went through the driver's side window.

Vowed to never use unless its on a forklift.

I thought they were for big steering wheels that sat more horizontal.

          Traditionally they are.

I've got one for my '66 c10, but even on that, it's more for show than anything else. I don't like the feel personally.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Old school hot rodders loved them back in the day.

IIRC they are illegal in Va as well, but I think there is some clause for older big trucks.

I try using them on vehicles that come in for service at work fitted with hand controls. Not a fan.

for old convertibles only, with the right arm resting on the bench seat.

                        OP, how old are you?
I personally, would not want to caught dead with one of thosr on my steering wheel, in any car.
They are fugly and make me think of incapacitated folks, whenever I see one.

I do not think they are a bad idea, on big trucks, trailers or forklifts. Seems useful enough for parking, with those type of applications.

Never heard them called spinner knobs before. Works great on the forklift at work and on big trucks.
