We're not going to need to create a "Pantless Ultimatum Thread Part 2" are we?!?!?! :nice:

    Congrats on the pass!

So many emotions rolled up in that one moment...yes it is almost magical. When my s52 fired up the 1st time with open headers and I heard it run and idel perfect the first time I was so excited. You can't help but be worried that you picked a good motor.

Good to hear it passed. Look at it this way, the issues you now have are likely pretty easy to solve. Yes you will make a mess changing the hose, but like I said, easy, cheap and simple fixes. I bet you could have them all taken care of by the end of the day.

Thanks will Ill definitely take care of that before driving it much.

Just smogged it.... Fan all the sudden decided to hit a coolant hose, nearly blew a damn hose on us -_- and now it's dripping some coolant from a hose under the thermostat. Time to get results and go park this pos.....

First off, its the the oil service light that is next to the inspection light? Those can be cleared with a simple jumper wire. Here is how. http://www.noren.com/bmw/e30reset.htm If I remember correctly you have the early type so you want to jump these two pins in red.

If its the oil pressure light that comes on when you first turn the key, its time to be concerned. Does the motor sound loose, rattly and dry? If so, you have no oil pressure. If not, you have at least some. Is there oil at the top of the motor as in, if you open the oil cap, can you see that everything is well lubricated? I'm assuming so. Based on this, odds are its either the wire or the sender, I bet NAPA autoparts has or can get the sender by the end of the day.

    Good luck,
    Will

Even so, just test the electrical connection before driving it again for peace of mind.

WTF??? that should be number one priority!

you probably pinched the wire to the sending unit putting the belt cover back on. I'll bet it has to do with the wire.

Since you don't have a tester, you can just replace the oil switch and see if the light goes out.

You can test the wiring and light by removing the wire from the switch and touching it to bare metal on the chassis or engine block while the key is on. The light should turn on and off when touch the wire to ground and then remove it.
    This is good info.

Ill either do that or ask the shop to test it for me while I'm there this morning.

Gonna go try and smog it in 40 mins.
