Those are good deals and you would likely be able to turn a profit on them if you wanted, so with the examples you have listed I don't see a problem with it as long as your bills are being paid and you're not constantly hurting for cash.
Well I did only pay $200...
Haha, these will be on my convertible after 5-lug. That is my most proud Craigslist "pick" thus far. Guy was parting an E23 and they looked like RS' in the picture, so I called him and had him check before I drove to get them. As soon as he was removing the centercap I could hear the metal on metal and just smiled. Great day.
The question is what are your goals? Does purchasing an item help you achieve them? If your goal is to find CL deals and flip then by all means. If it's to find stuff for your car, then what is your goal for the car? Fuh raze, bling cruiser, stanced piece of shit?
Bottom line: have an objective for your purchases and go towards that.
My goal for most these is to buy and flip after I refinish them.
I have had that problem with car parts in the past. I did usually saell them off fairly soon thoguht for a profit. I wasn't buying them to make money all the time just how it usually worked. Eventually I just got sick of running around to get shit I didn't need, rather set a goal/plan and build a car toward that with the next new toy instead of having 12 heads for Triumphs when I only needed one.
only thing vehicle related that i have a problem saying no to is going lower(again). I could just spin them down and have a great time. kills me to know i can be rolling lower, but i know im already at a decent height. dont know why im so attracted to being able to play with the ride height and have people wonder how the heck im can even move when im all the way down. i hate spending money, so saying NO for general purchases is easy for me.

Jumping on great deals that are profitable investments is definitely okay.
I sometimes get that way too. I'll have an idea or see something that is an incredible deal or something I just really want and I will find a way to make it happen. So far it hasn't caused me any problems in life, just made me happy and led to good outcomes.
I am a CL addict. I don't have a smart phone, so no app, but I check probably every 10-15 min. My problem is, when I do see the good deals pop up, I have a regular day job that I can't just leave at the drop of a hat for a cross-state drive, whereas other people apparently can.

I too am working now so I have to play the, "Oh God please don't sell" game from now on. But when I was in college I would literally drive to Atlanta (2.5-3hr drive) 3-4 times a month meeting people from Craigslist. Almost got lured into buying a set of knockoff BBS LM's off some drug dealer-esque Hatian once. Met a lot of different people.
It's difficult for me too, but I keep a totally separate bank account for my car stuff. I started it years ago with $500 and have been rolling that same cash for almost a decade. I've has as little as $5 and as much as $5k in there. All done via buying/selling as needed. Never do I add to the fund, all deposits come after something is sold off.
Might seem weird but it makes it very easy to keep my living expenses (I've got kids and stuff) so I can always pay my bills.

I've thought about doing this. Makes a ton of sense to me.
