It's hard to tell with a 9 word description that says nothing about the car...did you call him?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Might not be too far off. It looks like it's in great shape, with little or no rust, which is extremely rare on the east coast. It's a slicktop too, which is also rare to see. Need a little more info to really say if it's overpriced or not, but I don't think it's too overpriced, if at all.

What's up Bob? Striper season is around the corner. I'd need particulars on the maintenance to tell if it's overpriced. But if had been gone through and sorted out, rebuilt engine, it could be worth that much. Looks sharp though.

Looks great. We had a neighbor who had a '78 two tone, dark orange over black. Loved that car.

my brother sold his ugly 280zx with 80,000 original miles for less than $1000 like 3 months ago, the ZX is not desirable like the 280Z.

It is a ZX, which can be a plus or minus depending on how you look at it. They are potentially turbo-charged and the '83 models came with the T5 tranny which is supposed to be where it's at.

I'm guessing that is a repaint and in NY there is the ever-lurking possibility of rust on a '79.

If it was 100% rust-free, freshly rebuilt engine and carpet-licking-clean I wouldn't pay more than $5000 for it, not that ZX.

Find a 280Z, 77's and 78's are plentiful and you can get them for dirt cheap still.

This is true where you live, but over here, rust free examples go for a LOT more than they do out there, simply because they're fucking hard to find here. I have/had 2 240z's, 1 280z, and 2 ZX parts cars, and they all have had major rust problems.
