      yep I agree with OP.
I was in Long Beach a few years back with the team for the Red Bull World Drift Champs. and also had a chance to go to Huntingdon Beach, .Soooooooooooo freaking Nice. I used to live in Vancouver, BC, origionally from Mtl, then back to Mtl, and I thought Van was nice too, but California is soooo nice.

Id love to take a peak at Lower Oregon, and Northern Cali one day.

Salsa, Produce, Old "70-80 cars are MINT. Only thing that was noticable was SMOG. other than that ........West COAAAAST! oh yea, when landing at night, it seemed the city went on forever coming into LAX.
      Loved the beaches though.

It sure is nice waking up and heading out for a quick surf before you start the day. But I have to agree with your sf statement. I'm up there twice a month for gf time and business. It's definitely a place I would call home... At least for a little while.

There is a litany of things; Smog, traffic, holier-than-thou attitudes, cost of living, quality of life, crowded places, inflated pricing, lack of ability to start a business, helicopters flying overhead at all hours, not being able to live more than 1.5 miles from a freeway, the sounds of semitrucks/jakebrakes, rude self centered people, open spaces, the ability to turn the surround sound up to enjoy a movie, actually interacting with your community/neighbors, being able to see the stars/milky way, light pollution, gun rights, gas prices, freedom, the ability to be a big fish in a small pond, trust and respect from people, having people wave instead of flip you off, genuine individuals, land prices, not drinking municipal water, being able to fish in in a river in my backyard, I could likely go on for a really long time, but you get the gist.

You know I've never knew that, but I always got the dirty south feeling from you Ben. Haha.

Anyways Cali is alright. All we really have to worry about is earthquakes & a the possibility of a tsunami. Which ever direction you go for about 50 miles the scenery seems to change drastically which is cool.

I go to Los Angeles once a year and i gotta say i like it so much better than Nebraska. Santa Monica is where i am the most when im there. In nebraska the weather and roads are shitty. This past week we have had like all four seasons in 1 week! It sucks!

Every state has it's goods and bads but, Cali is really where it's at.

I've been outside of the state/states plenty, and I always get homesick. There's just something about this state that keeps me planted.

It's easy to move and become a big shot somewhere else but, you have to admit Cali it's where the money is and counts.,
I can't really beat any other states down, I can only make observations from where I am.

The night life here, always something to do, the weather, the women, the cars and that's just some of the reasons why I love it here, so yeah I love Cali.

I used to say the exact same thing. At one time, I openly bragged about Southern California being the center of the universe. I used to say why would anyone live anywhere else.

One day, you will realize it's not about the money, it's about the wealth. You can have all the money in the world ant not be wealthy, but you can have all the wealth in the world, and the money will just come. It's about what you love, not what you have in the bank.

The only downside I really couldnt' handle is the horrible tap water.

Moving to washington in June I cant wait to get hell out Cali!!
I lived about every city from San Clemente to venice on the coast and few inland.I'm done so burnt on chasing the California dream. You have to really hustle here just to survive not worth it to me.The weather gotten hotter every year I hate the heat!To many people that all hate each other.Just really hit the shitter here past few years.
Looking forward to rain ,big trees, low cost living.Sold my house and business $640k bought house thats split level 4 beds 3 baths on huge lot with giant trees $199,950. My house payments and apartments I rented out here were $4,700 a month. The mortgage in WA is $583.00 a month.Minimum amount you have to make a year in cali to live middle class is $150k a year.
I can't stand driving out here anymore.Yesterday it got to me and I snapped some dude cutting me off 4 times. The guy thinks its a game to play on the road ,needless say he has a dented door and hood now and would not step out side the car after my invitation .Allot of pussies out here but tuff behind the wheel.I'm just burnt ,burnt, burnt, on the land of fruit and nuts.FAKE people, shallow people, world revolves around them mentalities.Social butterflies but no true many friends.
Ow well not to say people are not people were ever you go sure that never changes .Just should be less people in WA.Apart me will always love cali like a abused wife loves her husband

. When everyone gets older and they realize they don't have shit or a dime they will smarten up and leave. This coming from guy who did different jobs working for others to owning my own business that grossed $190k a year. Even with that still always one step away from loosing it all.California dreamin days are over.
15 years back cali was the shit.Weather seemed better and things were booming . I'm a minority here now.Its more of a extension of mexico now Mexical. After selling my business went to see about medical for a bit.You know that you can be illegal in cali and receive medical.I was in their and every mexican had like 3 kids and probably iligel collecting med-ical how you guys feel about broke cali doing that!
I want to know how many people in here or in cali can go 1-4 months with no job and no unemployment? In washington I could go 10 years even more with the money I'm leaving with.Last year was not 1 person who did not complain how friggon hot it got!!1 week of rain is not good enough for me.Once you lived here its same old crap too do just like any other place only everything cost allot to do it.I'm looking forward to getting fishing pole a boat and decompressing .I like the thought of even if I make 8 bucks an hour I have money to spend!La is a nasty city Glendale is not to bad!Look on map quest go around Seattle looks very nice city.Hey California is great If you live in Newport Beach,Huntington Beach, ect. Its great in Cali you make $200k plus a year in your pocket.Part my heart will always be here but time to move on before the shit hits the fan!

I honestly didn't like living in California. Like having seasons. There are nice places to live north of San Francisco but it's' off the charts expensive for really no good reason. I have been considering moving back to Va or NC.
