just turn off and let it dry out. doesn't matter if you put in rice just keep in a dry place for the water to evaporate. probably can speed it up with a blow dryer, just keep some distance away to not super heat it

you'll need to open the iphone. It's sealed pretty good o resist rain or sprinkles. once water is in it it's hard to get out. once it's open disconnect the battery to stop any further damage.

I just dried my old 3GS and left it in my desk for like a couple of months and forgot about it. Then at one point I charged it and tried to turn it on and it worked, pretty crazy!

If rice works at all then a desiccant like this would surely work best. Grab some damp-rid from home depot, or a flower drying kit (silica gel) from a craft store. Just don't breathe it in or let the particles get into the phone. And put it in something air-tight (like tupperware) so it doesn't just absorb the atmospheric moisture.

Get some real desiccant, don't use rice.

My non-Iphone was dropped in a tub once. It was in and out in like 1 or 2 seconds. I immediately pulled the battery and put in a bowl of rice for 24 hours. Works fine a couple months later.
