congratulations!
(Just in time to drive to detroit for the big game in feb!)
in general:
If you get into trouble (a spin, lift-off oversteer, etc) your car is going to go where you look:
if you're looking at the guardrail you're going to hit the guardrail.
Don't drive too fast. I used to drive like an idiot when I was young. The damage you do to your car at even modest speeds (like, 30 mph) in a minor accident (eg: running over/lightly hitting something) often SUCKS.
seriously... it is a total drag and in many cases your car is never quite the same again.
Respect the weather / road conditions. makes a huge difference in these cars, much more so than front wheel drive cars.
Finally... GO TO DRIVING SCHOOL. Beg, borrow the $$ for a skip barber, bmwcca et al car control clinic. You will love it... it totally changed my driving and is TOTALLY worth every penny... you will want to hug your car (sounds gay, but whatever)
...naturally, you will then get hooked on driving school, lapping sessions, scca events...
congrats....the most important tip i was told was when your driving, always act like everyone is going to run you off the road. it makes you more aware of whats going on and whats happening. keep your distance and don't show off.
