    Should I buy an e36

First off I've always hated e36's and told myself for years I would never buy one.

My coworker(old, about to retire)recently discovered I was into bmw's. Worked with the guy for two years and neither of us knew we both had a common obsession. He daily's a Nissan pick up and I had a suspended license up until now so neither of us had ever seen each others cars. Enough with the rambling.

He offered me his 95 325is black/black completely stock 97k car that he bought new for 2500$. now I know if this was an e30 there would be no question about it. But it's not. So??? Yes or no? The only problem with the entire car is a torn bolster. He has all the maintenance records since the day he bought it, and says he only drives it on the weekends an for road trips. I believe it today was the first time in two years of knowing him I've heard of or seen the car.

What would you pay for this car?

The best car I ever owned was a 1995 325is.

Build quality wasn't super, but it was fun, easy to work on, and reliable.

      $2500 seems fair for a 1 owner E36 with 97k.

I think you would be dumb not to buy that for $2500! The last e36 I bought was a few years ago, but I paid $3500. Same miles but was a 318 that had a turbo. I wouldn't say it had the pleasure of being owned by a enthusiast its whole life either. Ultimately it is up to what you think it is worth, not what other people would pay. 97,000 miles, 1 owner, all maintenance records, well taken care of by an enthusiast, $2,500. I can tell you I would for sure scoop that car up in a heart beat.

          I'd pay that without question.

Great road trip car, got 35mpg avg giong 75-85 for a whole tank. Very fun and incredibly capable chassis, tons of aftermarket and oem support...etc.

The question is whether you want one. Drive it first.

Should you buy AN E36? No.

Should you buy THAT E36? Yes.

At the very least you could flip it if you dont like it.
            Im now E30less.

I had a 24v e30 for many years and fell into the e36 haters club... now I drive an e36 328i. I loved it at first, now I would say I like it and would love an M. The e36 is a much better car in every way, but it's just lacking in some of the character that the e30 has. But, for that deal I would definitely say jump on it.

You would be a fool not to buy it (so long as it isn't a shitter.)

The truest statement ever made when comparing e30 to e36.

If you need it definitely get it. If you don't need it don't get. $2500 is not one of those deals that you can't pass up. I've had 4. I've never owned one that was before the 96 update so couldn't advise on those besides the interior possibly falling apart. I've never had that problem.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)
