My 83 nighthawk 650. Cheap, wasting to work on, reliable, 50mpg, lightweight-ish. You don't want a crotch rocket. The riding position in awful and makes you like a homo

    KZ, ZRX, or a CB.

They can be had in various motor sizes, have classic styling that can be changed to something more modern easily, and have a huge following of people who modify them.

I've always been afraid of riding motorcycles. But this one makes me want to get into them.

that brings up a good point. While e30's comparatively are more technically advanced than 70's Honda CB's and Yamaha rd's, those bikes are moddable and have the vintage aesthetic appeal, they roll around stock still or cafe'd and modernized

I had a 2003 Triumph Speed Four. Great bike but not made for anyone over 6' tall. It is one of the most under appreciated 600cc bikes out there at the moment.

    Honda cbr 600rr. Ultra sick
Honda cb360. Looks good, not for highway as valves heat up and bend :/
Yamaha rd350. Small, really fast, ring ding ding, requires mixed fuel
Thats where im at with riding motorcycles atm. Looking at a triumph speed four

Have a 78 cb 750 super sport and a 74 cb 360 both are really fun bikes. I've restored plenty of classic bikes with my dad, hondas have always been my favorite

^ i love the torque of the v-twin, and don't like the image that riding a sport bike gives you.

and honestly, 65 horsepower is enough to scare the shit out of me.
