I like the look of the sv650s fairing bike, they are so slow though compared to an early 00's r6, ninja, 600rr, etc. (wasn't a fan of gixxers until the 600's were fuel injected, bikes were pretty bulky prior).
at least you can put gixxer front ends on sv650's
What is the "E30" of motorcycles?

Yamaha FZ1 (first generation 2001-2005) R1 motor, Carburetors, steel frame, Tough as fuck, easy to fix. Looks that won't get you pulled over. No fairings FTW!Leave a comment:

76 Yamaha 360xs. I say from experience. I have one and it's just like my E30. Old, broken and sitting in a garage.Leave a comment:

I really need to get something like the SV. The MV is a blast but its abusive riding around the city.Leave a comment:

Early Buell S-1, tube frame.
Make it naked, lots of available parts, support, tons of torque, great handling, can be had for decent price.Leave a comment:

If the E30 is simple, fun, lightweight & responds well to modifications, then I offer you this:

The Yamaha RD-series. I love the smell of 2-stroke oil in the morning.Leave a comment:

+1 for CB750's and +2 for SV650s.. the naked ones still look modern thanks to the Ducati Monster!
the former will be cheaper and imminently more modable.. the latter, thanks to technology and engineering, is a much better bike to ride.Leave a comment:

Thanks everyone for posting. I've been looking at Ninjas, Honda CBs & Sv650s so I'm glad they came up in this thread. Everyone one else, I'll take a look into what you posted before I buy. thanks!Leave a comment:

Ive been looking for one of these, a 80's Honda Sabre 1100. I would say its relatively close to the e30 of motorcycles, except its quick. very quick.

This actually is my choice as well.
Not too expensive, some cult following but also people riding them for purely logical reasons, light-ish and nimble, very durable and modern enough to be very reliable, not a lot of torque but makes enough power to be entertaining and go quickly, particularly at the hands of a skilled operator.
Yep, sounds like an E30 to me. The only big difference is Blunt doesn't sell parts for them.Leave a comment:

since bikes are priced lower than cars, the e30 of bikes would be like an 03 r6 or 6rr or something. $3-4k for great performance (beat the crap out of an e30)Leave a comment:
