CL. Just keep your eyes open. I sold my R1 for $2300 on CL and it took a whole 3 days.

Here my bike 78 cb550 I bought it for 350 in rough but running shape. I put about 600$ into it. This is how she currently sits.

    Bought it looking like this.

Started getting parts and rebuilding the bike.

Then over the winter it turned into this.

The e30 is lighter, great road feel, feels likes its made better etc. Older bikes are much heavier and don't handle nearly as well as newer bikes, don't have nearly as smooth a power delivery, temperature is a problem for carburetors, etc. My CBR is an 09, but its really just a much better version of older sport bikes. It doesn't have a bunch of electronics like ABS, traction control, wheelie control, doesn't tell me how much gas is it or what gear I'm it.

You can make a newer bike your own as wel. I've just spent about $3k on my 09 cbr1000rr and will make a little thread on all the mods probably next month. You'll be able to see how I made it my own.

That said, the perfect route for you to take to make a bike you own is to get a frame and build a bobber or street fighter.

Why do virtually all motorcycles have no title to them?

Like is it tradition to just throw the title away?

To be period correct, the K75S. Sporty without being a sport bike but good enough position to tourer, like a E30.

I'd just go with a ninja, or any Honda cb. Maybe make it into a cafe racer but not comfortable for daily driving.

I would actually peg it at a little newer at a 95-98 CBR 600 F3. Carb'd, strong honda 4-banger with enough go to keep up with many newer bikes and good handling. Can be had for a decent price too.
Oh yeah, they're fucking sweet looking too. Especially the Smokin' Joes edition.

I've never owned a bike but I believe in the performance category of these things, anything will be a lot since it's a bike. With any bike you can take the trim off (which is what my preference is look wise, a naked bike) like the picture I posted. I LOVE the style of that interceptor too. Something about the 80's for me, it seemed like most manufacturers' styling were ahead of their time.

I think like most people say your best bet would be 80's or earlier since they may be simpler and easier to work on, but I've never owned one so I'm unsure.

Kawasaki ZX-6e/early ZZR-600 sport-tourer (1990s -2004). Kind of a Swiss Army bike, it's stone reliable and does pretty much everything pretty well.

On the same topic, how would you consider this bike as the "e30 of bikes"? This would be the bike I would want as my first bike... just have to pull the trigger.
