I for one, love this site and the friendships it has allowed me to make. From meeting the chill people at the E30 picnic to partying hard in the sun down in Cali for the socal BBQ and all the shenanigans that await me everytime I log on. With all the changes, I must admit the place lost a bit of its "home" feeling for me, but if a few bucks are needed to keep it running and keep the musk alive, I'm all for it.

Now waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles all of you :D

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

While waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles has been good times, it's nice to put bad words into posts. r3v has saved my hide on a number of occasions, and I have scored all sorts of cool shit from the For Sale sub-forum. I am happy to send a little support to keep things rolling.

I'd be fine with sending some money to keep such a good community alive and censorship free

$3000 a year toward emergency breakfixes, licenses, etc) IE this is money I put to the side to pay for upgrades/site improvements. Last year we spent about $1800 of this, this year I JUST spent $500 on a new Firewall after ours kicked the bucket with the PowerSupply
$3000 a year goes into the annual party, we make custom glasses every year, + kegs, BBQ, etc
Remaining that we make goes into the Accuracy Automotive/R3VLimited Shop/Racing fund.

Google usually brought in $600 - $1400 a month, around $800ish a month before it died.
James, are you using that jamesC at csgopenline dot com address as PayPal still?

                James,

you should also have a pot at the picnic party, with a donation for the party, and a save r3v bucket to :)

If we currently have 200 active members at a time, each one of us needs to donate only 7 bucks to reach google's $1400 revenue. I say this is a great way to keep r3v, r3v. We should encourage more people to join as well to get more regular members. Hell, r3v keeps me sane at work so yes, I will donate.

                      James

                      I use another forum that funds itself in a similar way;
In the top banner of the main page they have a small bar graph/ ticker that shows the monthly amount needed, and what has already been donated.
This might be something we could try.

Currently without an e30. Will probably die soon.

I bet if only half of us who actually care about this site coughed up $5 a month each we would cover the bills pretty easy.

I, for one, welcome our new Google overlords. :p

Even if James went with an austerity plan that shaved hardware/software budgeting to a small shadow of its former self, let's say it's $3,000 a year that's required to run R3v, and not fund the E30Picnic, that would still require 150 people to donate $20.

I don't wish to sound crass, but I think that's a very high participation rate. I'd do it, but are there 149 other people that are willing to do it year-in, year-out, for the privilege of saying a four letter word and seeing MonkeyMadness post up culos grandes in NWS threads?

I am being pragmatic here. With Google's money, James throws probably the largest, most recognized E30 gatherings out there, best part being, it's free! You show up, chat E30s, eat a ton of food, all on GOOGs dime. And, you can say waffles this, waffles that because at least your voice won't be censored IRL.

Lots of chatter and what if and theories.

Make it easier for those who just want to donate, even if its something menial like $10/month. I've sold, purchased and learned so much on this site that it literally pays for itself in a very short time.

Just for claritys sake, James/R3V does NOT fund the Picnic, that is a separate entity ran by Lance...although James is a significant part of that story too.

James/R3V does host a huge "Pre-Picnic" party at his own personal residence, that is what he referred to.

Not trying to be pedantic, just keeping things clear.

Well, WAFFLES to YOUR party James. WAFFLE IT! This year you guys are going to drink Kirkland Farms fruit drink and eat Kirkland Farms peanut butter sandwich crackers while the hot tears of shame stream down your face, making it hard to drive clean laps on the E30 Simulator.

                                :p
