The issue with e30tech is not that they require payment, but that even with payment, service sucks. Making people wait several months to be activated or not activating them at all is ridiculous.

R3v is open and free and VERY well ran. If you feel like you want to contribute to help out, then do so, but they are requiring it.

As a side note, if I need to check if I have internet, the first page I go to is R3V because I know it will always be up and is the fastest accessible website I go to.

Could we get Google going again? certainly! However at what expense? If I change the site so much that it ruins the community yet keeps r3v going whats the point in the first place?
The fact that you're on this site posting is all thanks to James.

He stated he'd never charge registration fees nor he is begging for a handout. Considering we all love r3v, we don't see a problem in donating so that we aren't restricted by google. Do I have to though? Of course not.

James and staff work hard to keep this place up and running, so that you can be on it.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you

That's where you're wrong. He isn't ASKING for donations. Rather, he is offering it as an option to help support the community, if you feel so complelled. I'm sure James could run it all on his own, but what's the fun in that. He shouldn't have to, anyway.

I have made a lot off this site, so I don't have a problem giving back. It's really the difference between being FORCED to do that (e30tech cough cough) and people wanting to give back to a good cause. Comparing tech to r3v is like comparing apples to oranges. Tech is dead, their owner is pretty much absent. But we're not here to discuss tech, this is r3v.

Honestly, it seems like you like e30tech more, which is fine. To each their own. You're not forced to be here, so I think I speak for everyone when I say you are more than welcome to leave. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

Seems to me like he's probably taking all of what gets posted here back there, anyway.

So then we don't feed the troll anymore.

He needs to just be flat out ignored. We will take care of what needs to be taken care of here.

I said something the rest of r3v didn't like. They don't take kindly when someone doesnt agree with them.

he didn't break any rules, hence why he is not banned.

Just to play devils advocate here...
Friend of mine(Canadian) was banned sometime ago for instigating a discussion over certain political practices/ rights regarding American practices/beliefs.

I realize as a paying member, this does not equate "carte Blanche" in terms of freedom of speech, but just out of curiosity what is admins position if this happens to again?

Depends on the situation and those involved. Under normal circumstances we try to avoid a ban if and at all possible. Without seeing the actual thread or knowing the user (PM me if you wish) its hard to judge. Every person is different and we need to make decisions sometimes on the fly.
