anyways all the people whining about this and that seem like they are just trying to find a way not to donate because of this and that or the other, because if they did not they would feel bad otherwise...just how i see it.Comment

I'll throw a few bucks on pay day but...
I'm going to use this as an opportunity to air my grievances with the site as of late.
The swear filter was the tipping point to me just about giving up my enthusiasm for r3vlimited; however there were things troubling me before that happened. The whole reason I loved r3v more than other e30 forums was the attitude. It was a place fueled by "fu@k you"'s and driven by a resilience to being shat upon. When you felt you were being beat up without cause you would attack back and everyone watching would have a few lulz and life goes on.
Currently I find that there have been some questionable choices of and by moderators. I suppose it is what it is and we all have to live with it but I have experienced first hand a moderator getting pretty worked up and not evaluating what was said and weighing it against previous cases that set the precedent for how r3v OT culture expects you to act, but rather let personal involvement with another member determine their reaction. I didn't want someone to get emotional and end up banned, so I let it go.
I feel like it's becoming more like Bf.c with a 'not what you say/know/do, it's who you know/do' policy.
The Trina thread was kept in check and it got as ridiculous as it should have without messing with some random people's lives and I do have the t-shirt to prove it. I just think we need to find that balance between that and threatening to ban someone because you don't like not what was said, but who it was said to.For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.

Its simple James......my question was why does myster e have a sticky on the for sale section when they aren't a sponsor or contribute to the running of the site. ..... makes it seem as if they are getting special treatment bc they are associated with a mod.....Bumping a thread isn't rocket scienceComment

Anyone having an issue with that really should think of all the years James footed this site completely out of pocket.
I wish we had the cash to do more.
Before we started this company, my (now ex) GF and I had every single bit of our lives wrapped in R3V, from cars to jobs to houses to business to friends...everything in our lives were R3V related, 100%.
Then, once the ex decided to split, I had the idea to start an actual company doing subwoofers for BMWs.
Once again, R3V provided.
This site named the company, created the logo and gave us a launch.
Then, when we began struggling, we once again turned to R3V for "bailout coupons"...it got us through our struggle.
Now we are once again on the ropes, but with a hell of a lot better ammunition...we will make it through...again, with R3Vs help.
When I say "this place is my life", I truly mean it.

Regardless of who or who doesnt make money off this site..... When did it become a crime to be paid for a service?? I really dont understand the mindset of anyone even having the balls to question James about what he does with monies received in running this site. If I ran this site I wouldnt feel the least bit guilty of taking a profit and putting it in my pocket.Comment

The Internet is overly littered with porn and swearing...Do R3v member really need it? I don't think so. Cussing in threads only increases the potential for members getting into verbal altercations or however you want to say it.
If R3v has to stay cuss free and porn free to get that Google money, then I say go for it. Regardless, this site has brought me lots of income and helped started my business. At least 70% of my customers are R3v members.
With that said, James, a Paypal payment is on the way. And thank you for your hard work and dedication.

In total agreement with Greg and Blunt. Swear filters suck, but there's been less hostility towards each other, maybe due to the different contexts swearing can be taken in. And James making some profit after being selfless and busting ass to keep the site going isnt a big deal.Comment

I support the idea of having some sort of small status-banner at the top showing annual donation totals vs. some target. We can probably find a 2nd grade classroom to draw up a big thermometer and crayon in our progress. But seriously, I think that having something small up top that shows annual donation totals is a good way to raise awareness. I'd imagine that most people here would be willing to kick-in at least a few $ if they knew that it would go to good use.
And I also sort of miss the rowdy days where people were calling each other out left and right. The general mayhem was kind of fun.Comment

I also think that if there was even just a small graphic somewhere on the page it would be a reminder that every time you make a breakthrough with a problem with you car from something posted here, someone had to pay to make that publicly available. On the other hand it could also seriously hinder the possibility of a surplus or to have more money than strictly needed to re invest or whatever else James deems fit.For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.
