Thank god for clear packing tape, my s3's screen exploded when I dropped it. Still, cases are for bitches -
cracked 2x iphone 4 screens, cracked my iphone 5 screen. ($220 fix) it really depends on the type of impact and the ground it falls on. i've found that drunkenness increases likelihood of screen cracking exponentially. now i use a $1 screen protector and it has like 4 scratches on it from direct impact which i'm confident protected the retina display.Leave a comment:

Galaxy nexus checking in, naked. Haven't used a case in years, they make the phone too bulky.Leave a comment:

I usually dont have case on my phone. I'll put one on when i know its going to fall like when i'm wrenching on my car. They always slide out of my pocket. The only real damage i've encountered on my iphone 4 is i have small pits from welding and grinding next to my phone.Leave a comment:

Didn't have a case on my first iPhone 5. Fell outta my pocket when my zipper broke (board-shorts). Cracked screen. BRB, apple store trip. $49 later brand new phone + $20 Speck case. It feels a lot safer now.Leave a comment:

I don't give my phone any special treatment. I do try to keep it out of the water cause the touch screen doesn't work very well when it's wet.Leave a comment:

No cases because they often bulk up the phone too much which makes it uncomfortable to use and put in my pocket. I do use screen protectors because I don't want to scratch my screen while swiping, etc. I wipe it down with a special non abrasive cloth so it stays clean. The screen protector is only $1 anyway.Leave a comment:

Agreed again.I am completely against screen protectors. Why look through a foggy finger print covered piece of plastic that distorts the screen when you pay all this fucking money for a retina display. Its like watching TV through beer bottles. just makes no sense. Most of the times the screen protectors get scratched more than the screen ever will.
Yeah, I'm mostly not getting a case because the phones are already big, and the cases ruin the aesthetic. These devices incorporate some of the best industrial design... why conceal it?
You have attained rock star status.
Gents, I am pleased that that there is no overwhelming indication that a case is necessary / mandatory. I totally get why some people use them, but it's good to know that I don't have to treat a phone like fine china.Leave a comment:

Screen protector, no case. My phone is big enough without the bulk of a case.Leave a comment:

Iphone 4s checking in. No case. Been dropped, rolled, etc. Concrete, wood, linoleum floors.
Just small scratches. No problemo.Leave a comment:

no case. I've kicked my galaxy nexus about 50 feet down a street, dropped it numerous times, and aside from a few scratches it's fine.Leave a comment:
