I've wanted to visit Bavaria for years. See Berlin, Munich, all that shit. Just see where my family come from. Part of me would want to say fuck it and just stay there. Buy a euro e30 and live in a nice, quiet town.

After my gf broke up with me last month I've been thinking about it off and on. It's either gonna be that (unlikely) or saving up for another few months/year and buying a small house for myself (more likely). But hey, it's nice to dream.

              I'm in process already.

I found out that since my grandfather was a Lithuanian citizen, myself and kids are also citizens. I'm in the process of getting Lithuanian passports, so we can move to Europe as EU citizens in a couple of years when the kids are a little older.

Learning languages is hard for me, but apparently it's easy for kids. They pick it up ridiculously fast.

Children's minds are like sponges. I picked up on Spanish and German a LOT easier when I was younger. I am already witnessing it with my daughter and how quick she learns.

                  Yeah, it's nuts.

We go visit some friends on a weekly basis and speak Spanish only while there, it's amazing how fast the kids have picked it up and how quickly they can speak it. We went out for Mexican last week and my 5 year old daughter conversed with he waitress entirely in Spanish. It was pretty awesome.

                    rosetta stone is good!

as far as moving to costa rica or belize, i suggest going down there for vacation a couple weeks before you take the plunge. i have been to both. granted we mostly did touristy things, but i was amazed at how ungodly expensive it has become.

everyone dreams of the grass hut on the beach, but pretty soon you start thinking about what you would do to make money........ its not easy to make a living surfing.

That's my thing, and moving away from my parents, grandparents and brother. I'm broke enough as it is, let alone going to another country where I may not speak the language and hoping to find a job that can support me in the current world economic situation. I'd love to bounce to England tomorrow but after hearing a bit about the immigration process, I don't have the money and don't really have any attractive skills to employers.

If Lithuania is anything like Poland (family is from) and other eastern European states, a lot of people speak english already. Submersion in the culture is the best way of learning.

I'm sure they do but it's still nice to know a few things before you get there. We're hoping to start out there and move around a little.

I'm hoping to get into marine upholstery and covers so I can move somewhere tropical.

Good point. I was thinking of driving the 47 hrs to Costa Rica but a lot of it is obviously in Mexico. I'd need to be strapped. And that's a risk having my eventual wife with me.
