My friend owns an indie Volvo shop of decent size. (4 full-time wrenches) He WILL NOT sell certain year Volvos, 2001 being one of them. Transmissions and instrument clusters are the reason. You can be looking at an $1,800 bill instantly for a funky dash.

Continuing with the derail, I fucking love my 740 turbo wagon...

It's an 80 or 81 245 wagon. The front headlights and hood have been swapped for the early flathood design, as those are more desireable looking.

Obviously this particular one has had a lot of work done

wish it had a red block, but that wagon is rocking a LS turbo.

P2 Volvos, particularly 01-02 are notorious for having stupid tranny problems.
But that usually has to do with their geartronics, which you luckily won't have.
These cars are okay, but the level of workmanship on these is FAR lower than on the old RWD ones.
Go look for a nice -93 240 Station Wagon (turbo, or not - these are very easy to turbocharge on your own)
Or if you want bigger, find yourself a nice and clean 740 or 940 turbo intercooler.
The 7/9 series rarely ever come with sticks in the US but are easily swap'able.

Well I ended up buying it haha. It seems pretty solid for the miles. Only paid $2700 for it. I think it will be a great winter car.

Congrats! If it makes you feel any better, my parents paid $48k for theirs 11 years ago with its 2 kaput trannies and such.

Great deal you got. Now clean it up and take some pics.
