When I graduated from college I thought that having a nice office job would be awesome, make good money, and all that crap. I worked hard at first while ignoring everyone else complaining about everything and everyone. Then I noticed why they were complaining and started using Pandora and Spotify premium, along with anything I could find on the internet. More work for the same money while profits and stock went up. I decided to start using some skills I had learned to make the same money at half the time worked, although physical hands-on work. Now I am self employed and detail luxury cars and business jets for a few different contracts. For the most part I set my own schedule and listen to music the whole time. Like anything else, it has its ups and downs, but it's the happiest I've ever been earning a living. The best days are when a client is really happy or tells me that judges and people at a car show couldn't stop talking about how much his paint shined and popped even though it was only a single step machine polish on an inexpensive respray.

BTW, if any of you plan on watching Top Gear USA tonight, before the filming I did some spot polishing and cleaning on the Nameless Performance GT-86 rally car that Tanner will be racing against.

Slinging parts at an Indie shop. Sit at a desk all day. Inventory. Returns. Deal with stupid fucking people.

I love it when I started, but I'm over it. I'm over the automotive industry. Been looking on Clist daily to find something local and interesting.

English. Seriously. Effective communication is incredibly important no matter what you do. Also, many people higher up in companies are older and/or highly educated and appreciate people who communicate well. They are usually very busy and want information quickly and concisely.

I've often considered a desk job to get out of manual labor.

Then I realize it's one of those "grass is greener situations"

I take for granted being able to go outside whenever I want.

That's one thing that gets so annoying. All the backhanded drama bullshit. Mostly fueled by facebook too. I seriously can't believe how caught up these 50 year old women get in facebook. It's that or "did you watch Anderson today?".

Had a lot of crap thrown my way when I first was pulled into the department with all these biddies running to my supervisor at every opportunity trying to discredit me. Can't wait to find another job...

I also know how it feels to be the youngest. I am 24 and most of my co-workers are 35-45. There's not much we can talk about. They brag and boast about their new house or cars. I just get to talk about my awesome little daughter. Everytime someone ask or I mention my love for project cars or e30's, they all "hmmmm, idk I guess".

The only other sweet thing about being in the office is hearing all the gossip. OMG. if you're like me and you just don't give a shit, then you'll find it amusing at least. The cheating wives, slutting husbands, alcoholics.... Man it's like everything I grew up watching on TV. There's been so many ladies here who's husbands show up at work to find out who they're fucking. So far two have been caught. One of them came with a trench coat and an AR tucked in there. He was ready to do damage.

Another thing about being the youngest guy here is, I get all the attention from the milfs. It's crazy awesome at first. Then it gets old. I was slapping 40yr old coochie away left and right. Should've caught some of it to be honest.
You're either full of shit, or in the most toxic work environment I've ever heard of.

Agreed. Bring back more sexting at work.

I swear to god if it wasn't for the SMS lab in gmail I would have murdered someone by now. It's rather frustrating when I'm the youngest person in my department by over 20 years and I've been put in charge. Ran out of common interests the first month there.
