one thing I think I should add, because I think we should have all details regarding this.

when he started tearing into me, yelling and throwing $hit around he mentioned his wife just passed away recently, and I should cut him some slack.

Prior to that comment, I was calmly asking him repeatedly as to "why did you send it out without my consent?" and "where is it", since he didn't even remember exactly where he sent it

he told me to just leave and get lost before verbally unleashing a fouled mouthed barrage of insults and names.

    so I left.

I drove for about 45minutes just reeling over this, and turned around to go back to the shop.

I actually man'd the fvck up and went back inside to APOLOGIZE to him regarding our previous transaction, and told him that, I too have suffered traumatic loses in my life and understand the tragic loss of losing a loved one.
I told him to take care of himself, and hope that he takes some time to himself, and I offered to shake hands.
    He did.
I felt bad for him, I truly felt sorry...I still sort of do.

He wouldn't say anything to me, so again I left.

a week after that, I went back to retrieve my bumper and when he told me it's just "lost" not his problem basically is when I REALLY got pissed off.

I drained all my resources, and will need to proceed to small claims court regarding this.
I tried to submit a police report today, and they mentioned it's a civil matter and would need to be brought to court.

I need to find out exactly what the value of a Racing Dynamics bumper is.
I believe they haven't made these things for almost 20 years...it'd be tough to gauge that cost.

      OP,

regardless of all the letters and all that jazz, you didn't feel good about it the first time you went. ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INSTINCT.
I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Let this be a lesson to everyone reading this thread. It doesn't matter how many times others praise someone, it's all about your PERSONAL feelings about a transaction that dictates what you should do.

I had a similar experience with someone on this board. Many of you know him as "Blunt". He sold me parts that I'm sure are stolen (since they were far too cheap), and shortly after his last visit, we discovered my dog is pregnant.

Never again will I trust what others say.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Unless you can find some recent classifieds for this exact bumper, you will have to rely on the price you paid. Hopefully, you have the details of that transaction.

Nope paid cash and negotiations were over text messages.

I checked Guten Parts for something similar..all I found was a Ac shnitzer valance for 450...

Man that sucks, I've seen them $250 -$350 here and there. I got mine for $50 and a 200 mile round trip.

Did you get any documentation after you dropped it off initially? Receipt, contract, memo, stick figure drawing?

Because if you didn't, then all these guys telling you to lawyer up are basically telling you to throw more money away. There's really very little that can be done.

                        This.

Verbal agreements are worth their weight in paper.
