Sorry. I should have been more clear. I get lazy when im on my phone. CA ARB is slowly recinding the number of aftermarket CATs which are available to CA residents in an attempt to only use OEM CATs. Here is list of the newest removed manufacturers. You might want to check the complete list. They are literally adding new manufacturer s and part numbers every day. I think the last date was a day or two ago.

The California Air Resources Board, with assistance from aftermarket catalytic converter manufacturers, has been developing a database to store and retrieve information on aftermarket catalytic converters that have been approved for use in California. These catalytic converters comply with the new regulations that became effective January 1, 2009. The database is currently under construction and contains some of the catalytic converters approved for OBD II vehicles. Once finalized, it will also include catalytic converters for non-OBD II vehicles.

This is by far the biggest thing I hate about smog laws. If they don't want you to pollute that's fine, but making certain (and almost any) engine modifications illegal just for the sake of doing so is a bunch of horseshit.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I've had many cars smogged here, and I always watch them when they do it.....never once have I seen a tech get under the car to check for the correct cats. The most I've seen them do is quickly glance under just to make sure it has one to begin with. A lot of them don't even care about CAI's or whether they have CARB stickers, either....as long as they aren't flashy or ghetto-rigged.

This pretty much sums it up, although I think it's getting harder and harder for them to bend the rules with all of the new regulations.

Smogging my e30's four times, I have never had anyone look at the cat on any occasion.

Spence, this sounds more like a poor man thread rather than a California sucks thread. You gotta pay to play, so why not just buy a new cat that will last you longer than the car will.

I personally have my car registered in Lake County. Smog-Exempt, so you can suck it.

Also, why the hell did you drop money into the e21 and not your e30?! I bet the fix for your e30 is super simple.

I'm probably going to have to pull the engine on the e30.

I almost picked up that car with the recaro interior, now I'm just trying to buy the interior.

I bought a muffler and a cat for 170$ on amazon.

Now in gonna take it to the exhaust guy on Davis st he said he will plumb it all for me for 170$

340$ for a decent exhaust system that will pass smog isn't bad at all.

Now I want longtube headers tho, but I don't wanna waste money on the m10 haha.

How much he want for the interior? Looks clean. I don't like the size of e21 recaros much, but they look good. Dannys are bomb af.
