What should I say to my friend other than he is a fucking idiot.

He was suppose to move in with us next week now he is backing out of a contract which messes with me and my other friend. He claims God is telling him to walk across america with his other two friends. These two other friends have been planing for a year and now he is going after one day of thinking.

I am not religious by all mean but doesn't God want us to responsible? He has no idea who he is affecting. He hasn't told his parents and everybody thinks hes crazy.

I helped this kid a lot by letting him stay with me while he gets his life straight. He dropped out of community college, I tried to help him but I feel its something he wants to do just so he can have a story to tell to girls.

He is very "religious" but on occasions smokes weed, has sex with random women.

Seems pretty dumb and as much as I am his best friend, I now think hes a idiot and a lost cause. Hes also 22 with no high school degree

I will still be friends with him just not trust him with anything.

I feel he throws everything away that's valuable. He had a great opportunities. And throws them away. I feel he doesn't like trying, for things because its hard. He thinks a degree is stupid. Fucking hipiee

    Whats your opinion R3v?

Note he saved his money to move in with us and go back to school. I think he is on cocaine now..

let him go. He is young and foolish Or is he???
walking around banging chicks and being cocaine sounds like a fun year.
I sometimes wish I would have taken a year and traveled but I had no clue what was up at that age. He sounds irresponsible though if what you say is true. But then again "He is cocaine" How badass is that?

    hows your 02 coming???

I know lots of people who use God to back their decisions when in reality theyre doing more damage than good. I made the decision to stau away from people like that. Not because they make random decisions like walk across america, but because i think people like that who use god like that are wrong. Theyre just people who ate lost and think they have found god.

I would just suggest to you not to associate yourself with them. If you go against them then some of them will accuse you going against God (which i know youre not religious, but its just a situation that should be avoided regardless).

Im sorry to hear that he affected you and your friend negatively. Hopefully you can find a new roommate.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

I think you have it wrong, he is not crazy.

I myself just completed a round the country motorcycle ride that took me 10 months and 24,000 miles to complete. this was a dream of mine when I was 14 years old and never got around to it until after being diagnosed and treated for a stage 4 cancer, 40 years later. at least doing it now he won't be sitting on the edge of his death bed 40 years later regretting having not done it.

follow your dreams boys and girls, don't wait for some other day that may never come!

It's funny how with 'religious' people, doing "what god told them to do" is rarely the RIGHT thing to do. Truly religious people who do the right thing don't need to use 'god' as a defense.

before you start passing judgement maybe you should start thinking about the good that might come out of this for him. try reading a book written about similar experiences.

maybe the problem you're having is your own narrow mindlessness by only seeing the stupidity and not the genius of this walk.

That is a dream, (someone who wants to do not someone who drops everything and goes) and congrats on it. But God telling you something to drop everything and walk across the country and the 2 years you saved money for is gone after 9 months of walking. This isn't a movie, as much as I want it for him to be in one. At the end of the day its life, treat it the best you can, and make something out of your self. I just don't see the point walking with other people across the country, valuable. What do you gain? Sights? trees? sleep in a park? You feel like you gain nothing. Life isn't so sweet outside, with very limited amount of money. You need food and clothing mainly. Yes walking across can show him something, why do it when you can read from it?

Sorry about your cancer! Hope you have a speedy recovery and turn your dream into reality.

Can show him good or bad. Life isn't very sweet, and this trip will make it a little harder. I have talked to him about it first before posting. I was hoping someone wise would say something. Yes you gave examples of books, but this guy isn't a writter. Doing it for God? Ehhh maybe he can do seminars after his "walk" What do you do after? Thats a good amount of time gone.

Its good but missing the point, this isn't a dream. If he said it was a dream of his I would fully support it and throw him some money. And also say best of luck.
