I would keep my signed baseball card collection in it to keep my wife from finding them. so if it's empty I could get arrested but if it had baseball cards in it, I wouldn't????????????????

I have a secret compartment in my truck to hide my gun if I have to leave it locked in it. I like being able to hide things from would be thieves.

I don't think I should have to go to court because some fuck stick cop on a power trip felt like charging me with bullshit. It's not like anyone has ever been wrongly convicted in history...

This. Why is it any government/law enforcement officer's business if I have a secret compartment in my car/truck/house/shoes/pants/jacket? If I'm causing no harm to anybody, be about your own damn life and stop impeaching on my civil liberties with authoritarian legislation.

Good thing this guy over in the "stupid things that POs did to your car" thread doesn't live in Ohio.

The PO removed the gas tank, cut it in half and sealed it off so only the passenger side of the tank would hold gas. He then welded the tank back together. Next he put the tank back in the car and cut an access door, which opened and closed with an actuator into the driverside of the tank thru the floor of the car. It took me about a month after buying the car to find it.

Here's a great article on these compartments from Wired.

The DEA sent a stereo installer that built these and never once saw drugs to prison for 24 years with no possibility of parole on nearly no evidence. Tell me that's not messed up.

The challenge for anyone who creates technology is to guess when, exactly, they should turn their back on paying customers. Take, for example, a manufacturer of robot kits for hobbyists. If someone uses those robots to patrol a smuggling route or help protect a meth lab so that traffickers can better evade law enforcement, how will prosecutors determine whether the company acted criminally? If it accepted payment in crumpled $20 bills and thus should have known it was dealing with gangsters? If the customer picked up the merchandise in an overly flashy car? The law offers scant guidance, but prosecutors have tremendous leeway to pursue conspiracy charges whenever they see fit. And as 3-D printers enable the unfettered production of sophisticated objects, those prosecutors will be tempted to make examples out of people who are careless about their clients.
Very concerning for those of us that like to build things.

Because if there aren't enough criminals you need to pass laws to make new criminals.

              Liberty is so passe...

Where I live you can be stopped for traveling in the left lane of an interstate highway. You are only allowed there when passing. Usually this is used as a precursor to stop someone and begin questioning and/or searching. I have been guilty of this infraction many times and luckily not stopped for it. How could you possibly beat it in court unless you have enough credible witnesses that say the police lied? I don't think travelling in the left lane is inherently dangerous but obviously the representatives in my state know better.

Left lane riders should be pulled over and ticketed. The left lane is for passing.

Hate to break it to you but "keep right except to pass" is one of the basic fundamentals of driving, not just "an excuse for them to pull you over". Has nothing to do with inherent danger, it's about impeding the flow of traffic.

                    Figures you're from MA.

                      BOOM and BOOM.

I wish they would enforce it MORE in Va. Dirtbag high and mighty asswipes get in the left and think that nobody should go over the speed limit so they're going to slow them down. Fucker, you aren't the police, get the fuck over and let me get my speeding ticket.

Friend of my brother's actually got pulled over for sitting in the left lane at 100kph and got mouthed off to by the cop for a few minutes before she wrote him a warning for dangerous driving.
I think a lot of people do it just so they can sit, drive and not think or have to "deal" with people merging in from on ramps....

                              A. What classifies a secret compartment? I would bet a cop could call the E30 battery compartment a secret compartment.
