Raps been dead to me since the mid-late 90's. Pure and commercial unadulterated bullshit. That is all.

Almost all music has fit into this category since the late 1800's.

I mean when a musical genre stops having balls and soccer moms in SUVs start parttaking in it. Thats when I say "Ok stop it now.". Of course its all market-driven inherently. but its like when Rock first came out, only the kids listened to it and it had some sort of social meaning, now all these 14 yr. old rich fucks wear AC/DC shirts and kill it. Also Rap/hip hop, while supremely violent (which I liked) had a social message of sorts back in the 90's and earlier. You would never see NWA or Eazy E or ANY rapper in the early 90's get NEAR a Super Bowl Half time show. Imagine Westside Connection or WC at the Super Bowl. Nope. Now cocksuckers like Ja Rule, Puff Daddy (I refuse to bow to his 2 attempts at self-indulgent name changing) and Nelly, and these other pansy ass rappers who act street popped it up real nice and made it marketable and packaged it for mainstream america. It was inevitable. I cant wait for the new "rebel" genre to come out, cuz rap is dead, just like rock got slutted out in the late 70's and 80's with arena shite. Im strongly opinionated but Im like that about music. Im sure theres still good shit out there, but fuck it, I have quite a musical library to live off of from the past and pick and choose what I want thats salvageable from nowadays. I mean, I know it has to happen, but that doesnt mean I have to like it.

Theres quite a bit of good rap nowadays, although I can agree with you on ja, PD and nelly all being pretty lame.

I even have living legends for my song on myspace (nightprowler ftw!)

theres plently of good rap off the mainstream radar... you just gotta know where to look, but i agree 99% of whats on tv or the radio is pure and utter bullshit. most of my music was made atleast 5 years ago.

what about your mike jones' your e-40's, keak da sneak, etc. all have recently broken mainstream in a greater sense even though their local popularity has remained very high. i've been an e-40 fan for a long time and his new stuff albeit lil john produced a video for him, is still pretty damn good.

                            my $.02.

how about your lindsey lohans, ashlee simpsons, etc of the world. can you be any more of a propped up puppet?
