my wife would like to have a second set of kids. we are both in our 40's. i am apprehensive for two reasons. first our age is a bit of a factor since we would be in our 60's when the kid graduates high school. the second factor is something a little different. we both seem to greatly differ on our viewpoint of child rearing. as i mentioned in another thread recently, i raised a kid that turned out fantastic. i feel it was because of consistent discipline. she raised two kids that are now 16 and 20. they are for the most part, pretty decent kids with issues. i think the reason why is because she lacks any consistency in relation to them. i told her that she might as well just never say no to them and give them whatever they want. basically, this is what it always boils down to anyway. first they ask her for something and she says no. then they spend the entire day pestering her and shortly she will change her mind and say yes. they know goddamn well its going to turn out that way before they even ask. it pisses me off to no end. some people are just too concerned about their kids liking them as a person even if respect goes right into the shitter. obviously, you need to show your kid a lot of love when they are growing up. its the mistaking love for being liked by your kids i can't get over. they will still love you back if you discipline them properly and consistently. more importantly, they will respect you.

I think you and I must have been brothers in a former life. I agree with how you handle raising a child, and my wife is like your wife.

At some point the parent has to realize their job is to be their child's parent, not their friend.

Yes I did. Through a little networking with an american rotti breeder I found an ethical German rotti breeder in Tucson who has 2 male mahogany/black German puppies. I have had 4 long phone conversations with them about the parents (both imports) their breeding practices, temperament, hips and OFAS, what I expect and want in the puppy and what I will be doing with the dog (in want a companion dog that I am going to shutzhund obedience train, not bite sleeve train), not having a strong prey drive amd socialization.

I am going to name him Erhart (strong Speer/strong will)

Oh and a PRO. Starting a new job soon working 4 Tens and making 2 1/2 times the money with a ton of opportunities for good paying side work (my friend who is getting me the job and I will be working under made over 6k cash in the last month and a half doing side work alone!)
Good opportunities to move up to a weld shop Forman or higher at this new place, frequent pay raises, full benefits in 90 days. Laid back shop, not working on cars unless it is one of their off road race trucks doing fab work (another reason they wanted me).

I have nothing going on for me, i have been home for three weeks,and its driving me crazy.

I got forcefully fired from my job on the 9th, i was forced out with a Loaded 9mm. I went back to get my check and saw that all three of the techs were gone and they had new people in that shop. Opened my check and saw $40.43 was missing because of "poor work man ship"

I get dinged for sum-thing i didnt do,and when i tell them no im not signing that, I get fired.

Right now im looking for a pointless stupid $8 an hour job that will not go anywhere. I am contemplating selling everything i own.

Leaving in 10 days or so to drive cross country and hopefully find some where to live. My last day of work is this coming thursday (the 30th), Im leaving home on the 4th..
I'm heading to south and then west to phoenix with one of my good friends, we really don't know whats going to come of all this, but our home town is basically a dead end.

Bad:
Worrying about the trip itself. Possible car trouble/ money trouble or maybe we won't find a place to move to. Definitely one of the scariest things I've ever done. And its approaching fast. haha

Also- Ill probably be posting a thread with more info on the trip this week. Might need to make some contacts here on r3v just in case something happens on the road or just to make some friends along the road!

Let me know when you get to phoenix. Do you know where you are going to stay in Phx? Like do you have a city name, Glendale, Peoria, GoodYear, Scottsdale, etc. They are all considered greater phoenix area.
